It’s show day! Join us at the Gold Country Kennel Club Dog Show this weekend! We’ll have a group of students and dogs competing in rally - come say hello!

Also stop by the Wayward Journey booth!

We will be at the Gold Country Kennel Club dog show all weekend! They’ve had 700 dogs sign up for the events. Come on out to say hi to us at our booth, eat some great food from the food trucks, shop all the vendors, and watch these smart pups work! See you at the fairgrounds!

🐾 Take the Lead is proud to offer a FREE lesson to every dog adopted from an animal shelter! 🐾

This morning we had the joy of working with a sweet pup on her very first lesson with her brand-new family - what a perfect way to kick off this next chapter together! Watching a shelter dog settle into her new home and start building trust and skills with his people is exactly why we do this.

🐾 Rally show prep is underway! 🐾

We're looking forward to the Gold Country Kennel Club AKC All-Breed Dog Show on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds! We have a fantastic group planning to compete, with everyone from first-time exhibitors to teams working toward new Rally titles. If you've been thinking about giving Rally a try, there's still time to sign up for the show. Whether you're ready to compete or just want to learn more about the sport, we'd love to have you join us.

Don't forget that our pop-up Rally practices on Sundays are still happening (ask me for details!), so there's plenty of opportunity to get in some extra practice.

Hi everyone! I'll be out of town until Saturday, July 11th for my annual trip to the Sierra Buttes, where I teach a butterfly class for San Francisco State. I'll be completely out of wifi and cell range for the week, so if you need anything or have any questions, I'll get back to you as soon as I'm back!

Huge congratulations to all our Basic and Intermediate Obedience graduates! Now get out in public and work on your new skills! We appreciate you and love being a part of working on a good relationship with you and your dog!
We'll see some of you back in class in just a few weeks!

📅 Thursday | July 23rd | 4:30–5:30 PM (repeat Intermediate students, only - we learn new things that are above the curriculum and even have some Rally fun!)
*Intermediate classes available for basic obedience graduates 😊

🐾 Meet Bella! 🐾
This sweet girl has been patiently waiting at the Grass Valley Animal Shelter for her forever home, and she deserves so much more than shelter life. Bella is a long-term resident who walks beautifully on a leash and is an all-around good girl - she just needs a home where she can be the one and only dog! To help Bella thrive in her new home, we’re offering 6 weeks of training at no cost for Bella and her new owner!

Spots available in Basic Obedience Group Class!

We have a few spots open and we'd love to have you and your dog join us! Group class is a fantastic way to build foundational skills while working around other dogs in a structured, supportive environment - because let's be honest, practicing at home is one thing, but working around distractions is where the real training happens.

New puppy? Just adopt a dog from the shelter? There's no better time to get a jump on training! Starting early sets your dog up for a lifetime of good habits.

Class details:
📅 Wednesdays at 6:00 PM starting June 3rd, 5 weeks
📍 The Training Center in Alta Sierra
🗓️ Orientations begin the week of May 25th
