๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŽƒ Happy Howl-o-ween from Brunswick Veterinary Clinic! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‘ป

While we love seeing your furry friends in their adorable costumes, Halloween can pose some serious safety risks for our beloved pets. To help ensure a fun and safe night for everyone, here are some important reminders:

๐Ÿฌ Chocolate & Candy are a BIG No-No: Most Halloween candies, especially chocolate, are toxic to cats and dogs. Sugar-free treats containing xylitol are also extremely dangerous. Keep all candy out of paw's reach! Wrappers and candy can also cause choking or internal obstructions.

๐Ÿ‡ Grapes & Raisins: Often found in snack mixes or as part of healthy Halloween treats, grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in pets.

๐Ÿ’ก Glow Sticks: While fun for kids, the liquid inside glow sticks can cause irritation, pain, and excessive drooling if ingested by curious pets.

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Decorations such as candles, string lights, or small decor items can be tempting to chew on, leading to burns, electric shock, or foreign body ingestion.

๐Ÿ‘ป Costumes can be fun, ensure they are comfortable, allow for full range of motion, and don't have small parts that can be chewed off. Supervise your pet while they're dressed up.

๐ŸŽƒ Keep Pets Secure: The constant opening of doors can be a great escape opportunity for pets. Consider keeping them in a quiet, secure room away from the front door during peak trick-or-treating hours.

If you suspect your pet has ingested something toxic or is showing signs of distress, please contact us immediately at 530-477-2287 or your nearest emergency veterinary clinic.

Let's make this Halloween a treat for everyone, especially our four-legged family members!
