This sweet family barely made it inside the door to our lounge before being accosted by a group of affection-seekers! You can see the kids were immediately taken down by our sweet kittens. They went home with Coraline because she left them no other options❤️. Open all weekend 11-5p, best to reserve online!

🐾 Why does Whiskers Catnip Cottage charge an admission fee? 🐾

We get this question occasionally, so we wanted to explain how the Cottage and Whiskers Animal Rescue work together. ❤️

Whiskers Catnip Cottage operates under the umbrella of Whiskers Animal Rescue as a DBA (Doing Business As). It is not a separate organization or a separate nonprofit. The Cottage is one part of what allows our rescue to keep doing what we do. Did you know that we run entirely with volunteers, and no humans take a paycheck or salary from the rescue or cottage?

So, what does your admission fee actually do?
The Catnip Cottage has its own day-to-day expenses — utilities, cleaning supplies, insurance, food, litter, and all the other costs that come with operating a cat lounge. Your admission helps cover those expenses. But there's an even bigger reason the Cottage matters:

🐾 The Cottage pays the utility and loan expenses associated with our shelter space. That shelter space gives Whiskers Animal Rescue a place to house cats, provide care, quarantine new arrivals, care for kittens, and give cats a safe and comfortable place to wait for forever homes.
In other words, the Cat Lounge helps make the rescue's physical space possible. And soon the Cottage will house our low cost spay/neuter clinic that will eventually be open to YOU to utilize for your own pets.

Rather than asking donations to cover every operating expense, we've created a business model where the Catnip Cottage generates revenue that helps support the infrastructure of our rescue. That means when you pay to spend time in the lounge with the cats, you're helping keep the lights on, the building running, and the shelter available for cats who need us. ❤️
And, of course, your admission fee also supports the cats directly through food, litter, enrichment, and veterinary needs.

The Cottage isn't simply a place to come play with cats. It's part of the bigger Whiskers mission. 🐱❤️

So come enjoy some cat therapy, take a break from real life, and know that your admission is helping make it possible for us to continue saving cats.

Your visit helps keep our rescue running. And our rescue keeps saving cats. That's a pretty great partnership. 🐾
