🐎 💨 Some mornings, the horses give us a good reminder of why we start with ground work.

Murcie let us know that she was a little distracted and energetic this morning. Kristen spent some time directing that energy into a long-line workout, and we finished up with a relaxed horse and a great ride 💞

We had a little visitor during lessons!

🍀 The internet says dragonflies are good luck, and I would have to agree, because apparently they eat those pesky flies that bother us and the horses non-stop!

We also had perfect rides and perfect weather, so we will take all kinds of luck like that! 💞 ☀️

🍂 🎃 We are loving these cool mornings and warm afternoons!

The horses take full advantage of the sun, and we always find them dozing and soaking up the warmth. ☀️

Murcie also took the opportunity to pose for us, showing off some of the first colors of fall peeking through in the woods!

One of our many little barn mascots, he keeps us laughing , especially when he is chasing leaves or chipmunks.

🐎 The M&R Stables gang got together on Sunday for a little horsey fun at a Polo game!

We hung out tailgate -style and had so much fun chatting and socializing with riders and their families. 🤗

The game is super interactive, including a half time “divot stomp” and meeting the players and their incredible horses at the end.

🐴 ❤️ Highly recommend rounding up your family and friends for a fun Sunday afternoon in Granville! playpoloclub.us

We love a busy barn! 👯‍♂️ 🐴 🐱 But one of our favorites is after those arena lights get turned off, the aisle way is swept, and dinner time is under way… there’s something very calming about listening to the horses quietly enjoying their hay, and the barn is settling into its nighttime peace.

🐈‍⬛ Our dependable night time security, Tux, is at his post, keeping watch with his usual confidence and charm!

🌟🪖 Helmet Safety Awareness Week at M&R Stables! 🐴💚

It’s time to shine a spotlight on one of the most important parts of riding: helmet safety. A horseback rider’s helmet is their #1 piece of protective gear, and just like any sports equipment, it needs to be replaced regularly to stay effective.

🛡️ Helmet Replacement Standards:
ASTM/SEI‑certified helmets should be replaced every 3–5 years, depending on use.
Any helmet involved in a fall — even if it looks fine — should be replaced immediately.
Materials naturally break down over time, reducing protection even without visible damage.

At M&R Stables, we keep a small number of helmets on hand for emergencies and camp days. But for regular lessons, we are encouraging all riders to invest in a helmet.

⚾🧤 Just like baseball players need their own ball and glove… riders need their own helmet! Having a personal helmet ensures the safest fit, proper adjustment, and consistent protection every ride.
