🐾 Pets of the Week: Meet Moose & Persephone 🐾

🧡 Moose's Story
Moose is such a sweet boy! He weighs about 64 very dense pounds and is just under 2 years old. He is very smart, and knows sit, shake and lay down. He likes treats, really likes toys and to play tug with ropes. He has done well meeting dogs here and wants to play with just about everyone, as long as they're respectful. He doesn't always get along with bossy, dominant dogs. He pulls on leash but has shown progress in that department by using a front clip harness. He loves to go on adventures and exploring. An active family would be great for him! If he sounds like a good fit, give Moose a chance!
He's fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. He is $185 to bring home! Shelter Friends will pay half of that fee if you say you saw him here.
🧡 Meet Persephone
Persephone is an extremely affectionate girl. She is estimated to be about a year and a half old and weighs just under 6 pounds. She will lean heavily into hands for pets and makes all the biscuits! She loves a cushy bed and greets everyone with a friendly demeanor. She was found as a stray so we don't have a history, but here she has been good about using her litterbox and likes wet food. She is young still so she definitely has a playful streak! She is ready for her new forever home!
She is fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. She is $95 to bring home! Shelter Friends will pay half of that fee if you say you saw her here.

🐾 Help Fester on His Road to Recovery! 🐾
⚠️ DISCLAIMER: Some of the photos in this post are graphic and may be difficult to view.
Meet Fester, a sweet 9–10-year-old pug who found himself in need of a second chance.
Fester was originally found as a stray by a kind citizen who cared for him for an entire week, hoping to find his owner. Sadly, no one came forward. He was eventually brought to the Josephine County Animal Shelter, where staff saw he had a huge mass on his neck. Fester went to a foster home while medical attention was being arranged. He was able to be seen in an initial appointment and it was discovered he also had a double ear infection. Then the unthinkable happened - the mass suddenly exploded while Fester was at his foster home. He was rushed to the veterinary clinic, where he underwent surgery. The mass was thoroughly cleaned out, and the damaged skin was carefully stapled closed so he could begin the road to recovery.

While the little guys prognosis is a success, the cost of Fester's surgery and the post-operative care has added up. This fundraiser is being held to help recoup some of the veterinary expenses incurred while giving Fester the medical care he desperately needed. Our goal for this fundraiser is $2,000.

Fester is currently in a foster home recovering, where he can rest, heal and receive the love and care he so deserves. ❤️

🐾 Pets of the Week: Meet Andy & Barb 🐾

🧡 Andy's Story
Meet Andy! She's a girl who is about 5 months old and weighs approximately 30lbs. Andy is a sweetheart who is very affectionate with people. She is timid, and is just now getting to experience the big, wide world! She is looking for someone who wants an intelligent, sweet girl and is willing to continue her socialization so she can thrive!
She is in a foster home, and here is what they report:
-she is very loving. Wants to give kisses and snuggles lots
-loves the kids, afraid of loud noises but comes right back to kiss them
-loves the dogs one on one, gets defensive if they're near her food
-has done amazing with the cats and goats. Not sure if more confidence will bring more prey drive but nothing yet
-only one p*e p*e accident in the house, though she needs to be taken out frequently, doesn't know how to ask yet
-doing great in her crate
-fearful of her leash but improving
-just starting to try jumping up and responding well to being corrected not to.
-responding well to correction about house manners (such as jumping on the couch, putting paws on counters)
-summary is she is timid, gentle, loves people!
She is fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. She is $225 to bring home, but if you say you saw her here, Shelter Friends will pay half of that fee.
🧡 Meet Barb
Barb is a mama kitty who wants to find one of those homes, like her babies did! She is fixed now, so no more babies for her. She is a petite girl who is about 3 years old. She was found as a stray but the finder said she was good with her kids and enjoyed pets. We have gotten only good vibes from this mama!
She is fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. She's $95 to bring home, but if you say you saw her here, Shelter Friends will pay half of that fee!

🧡 Nala's Story
Nala is an incredibly smart Rottie mix. She is about 74 pounds and estimated to be about 3 years old. She is very treat motivated, is gentle taking them and already knows sit, lay down and shake. She walks on leash pretty well but sometimes she pulls a little when excited. She absolutely loves attention but is also ok with being a little independent. She is very trainable and intelligent, and comes with some prior training! She has met other dogs here and done well with them. A dog to dog meeting is always recommended. She would be a very loyal friend to whomever adopts her!
She's fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. She is $185 but if you say you saw me here, Shelter Friends will pay half of that fee.

Hi, I'm Virginia! I'm a 4 month old female, who is looking for a home to call my own! I'm a little shy at first but shelter staff think once in a home I'll blossom! When you pet me, I start purring. 🧡 Zeke's Story
Zeke here! Let's start off with how good of a boy I am. I'm a about 2 year old boy who weighs about 46 lbs, which means I'm the perfect medium sized boy! I've got my sit command down pretty well, but I could use some help learning some leash manners and learning more tricks. I love to go for walks with my favorite people and check all of my p*e-mails that are left on the trails for me. I was found as a stray and the finder reported I did well with their dog while I was with them. I have also met other dogs here and I have done best with neutered and/or submissive males and most females. I have a beautiful shiny coat with an even more beautiful fluffy tail, I would say it's one of my best features aside from my eyebrows. The staff don't know my history with kids or cats, but they hope I could do well with proper introductions. I'm looking for an active family to bring me home as I have a lot of pep in my step and I want to fit into the right lifestyle.
He's fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. There is no adoption fee. Shelter Friends is paying the entire $185 fee for Zeke.

🧡 Meet Bane
This fun little guy is about 2-3 months old. He's spunky, loving, and playful. He's very sweet and ready for his forever home! 🐾 Pets of the Week: Meet Jigglypuff & Supergirl 🐾

🧡 Jigglypuff's Story
Jigglypuff is a sweet medium sized lady at about 7 months old and weighs about 46lbs. She's a little shy and reserved with new people, but she warms up quickly with treats and reassurance. She came to us as a stray and didn't have much leash experience, she's doing so much better now! She would love a home where she can have continued guidance and consistent training so she can shape up to be the best dog she can be. Jigglypuff has met other dogs here and has done well, in fact she thrives with other dogs around (especially well-rounded, social dogs). We are unsure of his history with kids or cats, but hope she can do well with the proper introductions. She is very much a "in your lap" kind of dog and enjoys to be cuddled, doted on and told what a good girl she is. If Jigglypuff sounds like a match for you, come on by to meet her!

🧡 Meet Supergirl
I'm Supergirl! I'm a girl who is about 5 years old. I was found as a stray with my babies. I was a great mom, but they're ready to fly the coop, and I'm hoping your home can become my empty nest! I'm very sweet and outgoing. My finder said I did well with my litterbox manners in her home, and did well with her children.
