Unfortunately, we’ve made the difficult decision to rehome our handsome boy, Dodger, and we’re looking for a loving home where he can thrive.
Dodger — Male Weimaraner
● 9 months old with AKC papers
● Approximately 80 lbs
● Up to date on vaccinations with records
● Fully potty trained
● Sleeps great in his crate throughout the night
● Knows and follows basic commands
● Very smart and highly food motivated, which makes training much easier
● Loves playing fetch, running, hiking, swimming, and being outdoors
● Affectionate, playful, and loves being with his people
● Good with cats
Like many Weimaraners, Dodger loves being with his people and is still working on being comfortable when left alone. He sleeps perfectly well in his crate at night, but can be vocal when crated while no one is home.
He’s also cautious around unfamiliar dogs and could benefit from continued socialization. We’ve successfully introduced him to another dog that he now plays with, so we believe with patience and proper introductions he can continue making progress.
Our decision to rehome Dodger has nothing to do with him being a bad dog. My elderly mother-in-law lives with us, and Dodger is a big, young, energetic boy. He accidentally knocked her down while excited, and we’ve realized that his size and energy are simply too much of a safety concern with her in the home.
This is an extremely difficult decision because we truly love him. We think Dodger would be an amazing companion for an active person or family—especially someone familiar with Weimaraners or other high-energy breeds. He loves adventures, loves to play, and has so much potential with the right person.
We’re not looking to simply get rid of him. Finding the right home for Dodger is what matters most to us.
