What should I do if my pet has diarrhea?

(We know, not the dinner table topic.) 🚨💩 Don’t ignore it! Here’s your vet-approved plan:

• Call your vet if it lasts more than a day, they seem lethargic, there’s blood, or they’re a puppy/kitten. Those little guys can dehydrate fast.

• Skip the food (for a bit). Give their tummy a few hours to chill, but never skip water. Hydration is key! 💧

• Check for extras. Ate something weird? Trash buffet? A mystery “snack” from the yard? That could be your culprit. 🍂🐾

Plain diet = best. Boiled chicken and rice can help settle things down. Think of it as a spa day for their digestive system.

💡 Pro tip: Keep an old towel and a good sense of humor handy. You’ll need both!

How do I trim my pet’s nails at home?

✂️🐾 Nail Trimming 101: How to Keep Your Pet from Filing a Complaint.

1. Start slow. Let your pet sniff the clippers first. Treats = trust. 🍪

2. Good lighting is key. You want to see the “quick” (that pink part inside the nail) so you don’t clip it, unless you enjoy drama and a little blood. 💅😬

3. Tiny trims, often. It’s not a race! A little at a time is safer (and less likely to make your dog question your life choices).

4. Keep styptic powder nearby. It’s the “oops” kit every pet parent needs.

Pro tip: If your pet wiggles more than a toddler on a sugar high, call us! We’ve got the tools and the teamwork to get it done safely.

📣📣📣 We created a new TikTok page and you should definitely check it out! 📣📣📣

Delainey has been working on some great ideas and there’s definitely more to come. You’ll get to enjoy some behind the scenes fun and educational moments too. We are looking forward to getting some help creating content from our amazing patients (of course we will always ask for permission first)…

If you already know that your fur baby really wants to be TikTok or Facebook famous (as far as we’re concerned anyway), you can always let a team member know at the start of your visit that we have your permission… After that it will be lights, camera, and 🐾🎬

We hope you enjoy this introduction (or the refresher) of some of the wonderful people that make us a TEAM! ❤️

What are the signs of heatstroke in pets?

Summer sun = fun for us, but for pets? Here’s what to watch for when temps rise:

🐾 Excessive panting (the “I just ran a marathon” kind)
🐾 Drooling like they just saw a steak commercial
🐾 Lethargy or wobbling. If they look dizzy or weak, that’s a red flag
🐾 Bright red gums or tongue
🐾 Vomiting or collapse. 🚨Emergency mode, call your vet NOW!

Pro tip: If you wouldn’t walk barefoot on the pavement, neither should your pet’s paws! Keep them cool, hydrated, and in the shade.

🐕💦 Bonus points for a kiddie pool, because everyone deserves a splash zone.

Short answer: Some are okay, some are NOT… and your pet’s nose would like a say in it! 👃🐶🐱

🚫 Avoid these “uh-oh oils”:
Tea tree, eucalyptus, citrus, pine, peppermint, cinnamon, and ylang ylang. These can irritate (or even poison) pets when diffused or applied on their skin.

✅ Safer scents (with caution!):
Lavender and chamomile can be gentler options, but always use sparingly, in well-ventilated spaces, and never directly on your pet.

Pro tip: If your pet leaves the room when you turn on the diffuser, that’s your answer right there. They vote “no thanks.”

When in doubt, ask your vet before turning your home into an aromatherapy retreat. 😉

Now that surgery’s done, your job is to play nurse (and maybe referee). Here’s the post-op care playbook:

Keep the cone ON. Yes, your pet hates it. No, it’s not optional. Think of it as a stylish accessory that prevents a very expensive redo. 🐶🩹

No zoomies allowed. We know, they feel fine by day two. But those stitches need time to heal. Short leash walks only and no furniture Olympics.

Watch for weird stuff. Redness, swelling, discharge, or odor? Call us. We’d rather check it out early than let things get messy.

Skip the baths. Until your vet says it’s okay, water and incisions don’t mix. Dry shampoo or pet wipes if absolutely needed but be sure to avoid the incision area.

Medications = magic. Give them exactly as directed, even if your pet’s giving you the “I’m fine!” eyes.

Your pet’s recovery should be quick and uneventful (the best kind of recovery). A little rest, a lot of love, and before you know it, they’ll be back to their usual chaos. ❤️

Let’s be real — we love our pets, but sometimes our homes smell a little too much like them. 🐶🐱 Here’s how to kick the funk without kicking out your furry friend:

Wash the washable. Bedding, blankets, and toys can hold onto odor like a dog with a bone. Toss them in the wash regularly!

Vacuum like you mean it. Pet hair = pet smell. A good vacuum with a HEPA filter is your new best friend (after your pet, of course).

Mind the litter box. If you’ve got cats, scoop daily and clean the whole box weekly. Your nose will thank you.

Don’t mask, neutralize. Use pet-safe enzymatic cleaners that break down odor instead of just covering it up.

Fresh air for the win. Open windows when you can, nothing beats nature’s Febreze!

And if the smell seems extra suspicious (like your dog just discovered the fine art of “marking”), your vet can help rule out medical causes. Because a happy home smells like love. ❤️🐾

Here’s the vet-approved, guilt-free guide to help them cope:

🐾 Create a Safe Zone – A cozy den, crate, or quiet room with their favorite blanket can be their personal panic-free bubble. Bonus points if you join them.

🎵 Mask the Noise – Soft music, white noise, or even a “pet-approved” podcast can help drown out the scary sounds. Think of it as their personal spa day, with a side of trembling.

🦴 Distraction & Treats – Puzzle toys, chews, or a new game can shift focus from the chaos outside to fun inside. Anxiety might meet its match in peanut butter.

💊 Ask the Pros – For severe cases, we may suggest calming wraps, pheromones, or medication. Sometimes, a little professional help is the difference between “meow” and “mayhem.”

📸 Pro Tip: Snap a pic of your pet in their safe zone. Nothing says “I survived the fireworks” like a sleepy, proud little warrior.
