definitely out did her self again getting some awesome shots of me and my students at our April 11th horse show!

That day we also celebrated Dreamer’s 18th birthday! He was down the week prior with an abscess and was only able to do the lead line but it was great to share with everyone it was his actual birthday!

We definitely made it out great with a few Highpoint Champions and one Reserve Champion!

I’m definitely proud of my little group they have done amazing!

This is awesome definitely feel like there are lots of green flags her at TKM! Slow and steady wins the race, taking time to do it correct takes consistency.

I’m constantly learning as a trainer and coach and know I’m not perfect, I have methods but I have a lot of experience to explain it.

I’m just happy I get to experience it with kiddos I enjoy. 😊

Red flags when choosing a trainer.... Not everyone with a saddle and a social media following is a professional.

If you’re looking for a trainer/instructor, here are things that should make you pause:

🚩 They never ride with anyone better than them.
🚩 They can’t explain why they’re doing something, just that “it works.”
🚩 Every horse in the barn needs routine injections/maintenance.
🚩 Young horses are doing advanced maneuvers before they have a foundation.
🚩 They blame the horse for every problem.
🚩 They’re constantly changing bits, gadgets, and equipment to fix issues
🚩 Their solution to confusion is always “more work.”
🚩 You've never seen them change their mind on anything
🚩 They aren't open to new ideas or methods

A good trainer should be able to explain the process, play the long game, prioritize longevity, welcome outside eyes, adjust without ego.

And here’s a big one: If everything looks dramatic, urgent, and intense… it probably is. In fact, my rule of thumb is if you are the slightest bit uncomfortable with how they do things when you're there, assume its 3x worse when you aren't around. Are you comfortable with that?

Good training often looks boring. Quiet. Repetitive. Intentional. Even in our riding lessons, we prioritize safe and slow, over rushed progress.

Good trainers can be hard to find, but there's plenty out there. Choose wisely!

Some of you may know but a well known Pro Breakaway Roper lost their precious little girl at the young age of 3 years old to a horse accident.

As a mama of a now 3 year old and 1 year old I can’t imagine the pain she must be going through. No one should have to lay a child to rest, especially so young.

The horse industry feels the sadness and pain. TKM feels your pain. I pray for strength for this family in this hard time.

This past Saturday was my birthday and I had all my students I could at one time (this is not everyone, my others came earlier in the morning) and we enjoyed a short lesson and then a trail ride around the place, thank you everyone that came out to have fun with me!! I love each of yall and I want everyone to know they are doing amazing and I enjoy being your instructor!

I then was finally able to make a small dream come true and got to ride my childhood horse and my husband Tim got to ride his childhood horse together! As most everyone knows Peso is Tim’s childhood horse’s offspring so finally able to see all the pieces coming together was one of the best gifts I could ask for!

All of our ponies are snuggled in their blankets ready for the weather, hope everyone stays safe out there!
