Now lemy girl (Toast/Rhino) man what a beautiful, smart little girl. She is a complete blank slate. Which is exactly how I like to get them. No bad habits. Just a little jumping. But truly a blank canvas. So let's see what we can paint on here. Not over the top confident. But confident enough to progress quickly. She reminds me so much of Toast. Sweet but tenacious spirit. I see Toast when I look at her so many times. We're working on leash stuff with verbal "sit" and whistle sit. There's still some confusion but she's smart enough to work right thru it. She will be a rock star in no time I believe.

Another pupdate!! 🔥
Rysc (Mary and Drake) is owned and trained by Rebecca Grant! We are super proud of both of them! Thank you Rebecca for the update! 🐾🐾🥰

"Rysc turned 6 months old yesterday, just in time to trial! My only goal was to see how trial ready he is and to make sure he had an exceptional time. I think we both did!
He had 8 Novice searches, earned all four Novice Elements titles and his overall Nosework Novice title. He placed in 5 searches, 1st and 2nd in Vehicles, 2nd in Containers, 4th in Exteriors and 4th in Interiors.
He had a great time searching at a lovely facility.
Thank you Kyle Grant for the camera work and thank you to Central Iowa Dog Sports, the judges and all the fabulous volunteers!!"

Now Indy girl owned by Jake Wilson. Indy lacked confidence when she came. And it's been a process for the last month to build that. But you can see she is pretty darn confident in this video, even with the prong. Her head is high. She doesn't try to put her head down at all I don't think in this video, as a sign of distress or avoidance. She's head high and ready to learn. She's such a smart girl. And so fun to work with. Her desire to please and so the right thing Is super high. That we can build on. Indy is the only dog here that's not from our breedings. And I'm so glad I agreed to take her. She would have been easy to break with the wrong trainer or two much pressure. But she's a happy girl now. So glad to have her. Her fetch and hold is going good also. She's a very nice dog. And will be a great addition to the duck blind this year.

Now we've got Millie girl owned by Bill Petersen. Lots going on in this one. Millie's obedience had gotten way out of hand. So you will see me with the heeling stick in the field. And you will notice she is intimidated by it. It's not easy to watch at first. And most trainers would never show that. But yall know me. I show stuff. This is what it looks like sometimes. But you see her obedience is alot tighter. Just like most dogs act different with the collar on, same as with the heeling stick. A tool used to uphold a standard. She will not be intimidated by it for long. But it's fresh right now. It's a trade off. A little discomfort right now. Verses lots of correction with little to no result without it. But this is what it looks like. I say all the time. This stick is not a weapon. And it's not. Not to be used like one. But it is to be used like a prong or the collar. Neither of those are weapons either. Simply tools used to "uphold" what we've already taught. And you can she has a level of respect for it. Which is what were looking for. It turns our commands, from mere suggestions, back to commands. Adds a level of seriousness and accountability. And the proof is in the pudding. We had a great session. No wrestling for control. Just respect and learning. And we make alot of headway because of it.
I mention in here about how I have allowed these dogs to become loose in the name of lets hurry and advance. Man what a disservice I have done them. Mostly to hurry so these videos will fall in the parameters to post without editing. Which takes time I don't have. So I've gone to less videos to post, and better dogs I hope.

I discovered another trainer a week or two ago Old Cypress Retriever’s. Mr Cory. I don't know him and he doesn't know me. But I am quick to recognize someone who does it right. And give them credit. When I started watching Mr Cory's videos. I immediately thought Ms Suzie had spoken to him in secret. Lol. Because he had read my mail. Kinda like going to the church house on Sunday amd the while sermon steps on your toes. I assume he had inside info. 🤪
Not the case tho. But with every reel or video I was instantly convicted that, Man I have been doing it wrong. I've allowed things that I never used to. And never should have. So because of "pastor" Cory (I'm being silly) I've applied the sermon to my life/training. That's what good trainers do. They see someone doing good and want to do good also. That's how we should be. I'm not critical of any other trainers page. If I think you're wrong, I simply scroll on by. But when I see something good. I want that also. And I also want to be quick to give them the credit. So there you go.
But it has helped to open my eyes to things I need to change. I'll say this for the first time. Thank God for that algorithm. 🤪

Millie is doing great. She's happier for the discipline. And getting alot better because of it. So proud of Millie for trusting me thru it. Thank you Mr Cory for making those videos. And thanks to the algorithm for allowing me to see it. But above all thank God for making me open minded enough to receive what he had for me.

Gauge man doing good. Starting to settle in to the groove. New concepts bring out old problems. And can immediately point out holes in your foundation. That erodes confidence. So we strive to build confidence. We do that thru consistency and repetition. Gauge is very smart and forgiving by nature. He trusts easily and learns quickly. Truly the total package in training. He had plenty of drive. But not psychotic. He's come a long way in the past couple of weeks. We will start to campaign Gauge in some started tests coming up pretty quick. I like for a dog to be a level ahead of the test we are running. At least, run a "dead bird back", In case they don't see their mark and I need to resend them. Very important. I t hasn't been that long ago the ol Rip owned by the Jim/Jen Casey set a new record for number of casts in a started test. Lol. Like 36. Not really. But it was alot. The cover was kinda tall. And the wind was blowing from the gunner blind where the duck rack was. And he kept trying to tell me " I'm not sure where that one fell, but I found a bunch more over here". 😃 in the end he held it together and trusted my handling and pulled out the win. But it was funny to watch. Nerve racking, but funny.

Edited to add: please share this and report this page! They are still trying to scam people out of money for our puppies!

Everyone please be careful when looking for your new puppy! This page is a scam! These puppies are ours from previous litters. I messaged them from our personal page inquiring about these puppies and I'm pretty sure they checked out that we own Big Water Dreams Retrievers because they stopped messaging back. BUT, if you or anyone you know are looking for a puppy, please be diligent in asking questions. There are so many scammers out there! There are also lots of reputable breeders that will answer all of your questions, talk with you on the phone and even face time with you!
