We made our rounds at the Novi Pet Expo, sharing boxes of biscuits with the shelters and rescues through our Good Dog, Good Deed Campaign! We know how much heart goes into their work, and we’re grateful we could give something to the pups they care for.

Help us show these organizations some love: Make a Difference Rescue, Hairy Houdini Siberian Husky Rescue, Pawsitive Change Animal Rescue, Great Lakes Boxer Rescue, Angel Paws Pet Rescue , No Dogs Left Behind, Bottle Babies Rescue of Michigan, Happy Paws Haven Co., Last Day Dog Rescue 🐾

You can help us keep their treat jars full, too! Here's how the Good Dog, Good Deed Campaign works:
👉 Purchase a case of 12 bags for $50 (over 50% off!)
👉 We’ll donate a matching case to the shelter, rescue, or pet pantry you choose.
👉 Donate your case, too, and TWO full cases go to dogs in need!

Our goal is ONE MILLION biscuits donated. Every purchase helps us get closer while supporting adults with disabilities gaining work skills in our kitchen ❤️

🌟🌟 SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY! 🌟🌟 Meet Traci!

Traci recently joined our team as Kitchen Manager on Mondays and Tuesdays, helping our Brew Bakers make dough and bake the biscuits your pups love. Kind, caring, and always ready with a smile, she’s already given us so many reasons to be glad she’s here! ❤

Traci lives in Kentwood with her husband, Scott, their silver Labrador, Bellatrix, and their Garfield-sized black cat, Harry 🐾 She also has two grown children who live in Grand Rapids and Detroit.

Outside BCDB, you might find her spoiling her pets, playing golf, bowling with her best friends, or curling up with a good book. She and Scott love watching sports together, cheering on the Wolverines, Tigers, Red Wings, and New Orleans Saints! 🙌

Traci enjoys a little bit of everything when it comes to music, but country tops her list, especially Miranda Lambert! 🎶 She’s not picky about food either, though cheese enchiladas are a favorite! 😋

Fun fact: Traci LOVES all things Harry Potter! Both pets are named after characters, and her memorabilia collection is big enough that she jokes she needs a room just to display it ⚡

When we asked about her time at BCDB so far, Traci shared, “I am so overjoyed to be a part of BCDB!” She added “I have loved getting to know everyone and feel so grateful to be involved with such an amazing organization and such amazing people.”

We’re feeling pretty grateful ourselves, Traci! Next time you’re here on a Monday or Tuesday, stop by the kitchen and say hello to Traci 🌟🌟

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month, and we’re celebrating four pretty special members of our team! ❤

First up, meet Mel! 👋 Our very FIRST employed Brew Baker!

Mel has become an incredible role model in our kitchen, always taking initiative, helping others, and leading by example. We’re so grateful for everything she brings to our team!

Throughout the month, we’ll be introducing you to our employed Brew Bakers and celebrating the opportunities that meaningful employment creates for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

But first, hear from Lorelle about what makes Mel so awesome! 🥰

What do you know about white canes? Let Meaghan show you! ♥️

Today is ! Follow along with our friend Meaghan as she shares how she learned to use her cane, why it was worth the practice, and how she uses it throughout her day.

White canes help people who are blind or visually impaired navigate safely and independently, while letting others know to be mindful as they pass.

You’ll also hear from Sarah, Meaghan’s CLS person, about their time together and why awareness matters. Watch, learn, and share! A little understanding can go a long way 🙌

How cute are these spooky thank you cards?! 🎃👻

Every B**r City Dog Biscuits order comes with a one-of-a-kind thank you card drawn by one of our Brew Bakers 🧡

This month, a few lucky customers will be getting some extra festive artwork in their orders! We love these little personal touches that make every order special 🐾

🌟🌟SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY🌟🌟 Meet Jada and Allie, our interns from Grand Valley State University’s Occupational Science and Therapy Program!

These two have spent their internship working side by side with our Brew Bakers, supporting our kitchen and learning firsthand about occupational therapy in a community setting. One of our favorite parts of hosting GVSU students? They help us learn and improve, too! ❤

Jada grew up in Midland, MI, with three older brothers. She and her husband, Eli, now live in Wyoming, MI, with their dog, Iris 🐶 Outside BCDB, she enjoys time with friends and family, pickleball, walks with her dad and husband, and traveling 🌎 She’s visited Mexico, Greece, Italy, and Kenya, with the Bahamas up next! Her playlists include 2000s rap and R&B, country, and worship music.

Fun fact: Jada won a women’s basketball national championship during her freshman year at Hope College! 🏀

Allie moved to Grand Rapids for undergrad and grad school after spending her middle and high school years in Traverse City. Outside BCDB, she loves spending time with her goldendoodle, Chloe 🐕 hiking, going to the beach, and trying new recipes. She’s also giving golf a try! ⛳ When it comes to music, she loves country and grew up listening to Kid Rock.

Fun fact: Allie is originally from Marquette in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula! 🌲

We asked them what they’ve enjoyed most about coming to BCDB. Jada shared, “I love getting to know the Brew Bakers and their stories along with coming up with ideas to help adapt the environment so the Brew Bakers can be successful while volunteering at BCDB.”

Allie added, “I’ve loved to learn the behind the scenes of all the work and labor of love that goes into each biscuit.”

They’ve tried plenty of tasks around the kitchen, but both agree that building relationships and working alongside our Brew Bakers has been the most fulfilling part 🫶

Jada and Allie, thank you for the care, ideas, and hard work you’ve shared with our kitchen! Thank you to GVSU for continuing to partner with us. We’re honored to be a fieldwork site supporting the next generation of occupational therapy professionals! 🌟🌟
