This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

March 27th is National Terrier Day! How many different kinds of terriers can you name off?

03/20/2026

March 20th is National Westie Day! The Westie's roots lie in Scotland, where it and other related terriers were used to rid farms and surrounding countryside of rodents, fox, badger and other small mammals. At the time, the breeds we now know as the West Highland White, Scottish, Cairn, and Skye Terriers were all grouped together as Scotch terriers.

Our team is always looking for ways to improve patient and staff safety as well as finding ways to be more compassionate healthcare providers. We recently have been implementing hands-free radiology. Hands-free radiology techniques include using sand bags, gauze and tape to help position our patients for their imaging. These techniques also minimize the amount of stress of obtaining the x-rays for our patients and reduce our team's exposure to radiation. This also allows x-rays to be obtained in less time with fewer exposures!

Our patient, Eli did fantastic for his preoperative CareClub radiographs for his dental procedure! Way to go Eli! 🐾
