Could have put it better myself. Riley is such a good boy and I was thrilled to hear his surgery was a success. I too look forward to seeing him again and his new brother 🤩❤️
We wanted to share a little bit about Riley today. Riley has been coming to us for over 5 years now.
2-3 times a week, every single week, for years Riley comes to daycare. He is a big part of our lives.
Riley recently had to take a break from daycare. He was diagnosed Myxomatous Mirtal Valve disease (MMVD). His dad, Cody, did EXTENSIVE research on Riley’s options. He had to decide between having surgery in Illinois, Florida, or in Japan. We talked over options and Cody spent countless hours going over every single detail and what would give Riley the best odds. Japan was the best option, except the fact that he would have to quarantine for 6 months. Which, there was too much risk waiting that long without treatment.
Ultimately, he chose to bring Riley to Illinois to have the TEER procedure. The surgery was a success and he is doing well 👏
Riley has a follow up next week where they’ll hopefully give him a time line of when he can come back to daycare. We have missed him so much, and we can not wait for his first day back. Daycare truly isn’t the same without Riley here.
If everyone can continue to send Riley their best thoughts and prayers and hope that the follow up appointment goes well, we would appreciate that!
We love you Cody and Riley, and can’t wait to see you both! (And your new brother, Kirby!)
