The secret to successful dog ownership?
Structure
There are 3 things that can make or break not only your dog's training, but also your relationship with your dog.
Love, Discipline, and fulfillment.
Those three things are equally important.
Too much Discipline with no love or fulfillment isn't a relationship. It's sad. Your dog yearns for connection.
Too much love without discipline and fulfillment makes a dog unruly and chaotic. Dogs need caring leadership.
Fulfillment without discipline or love is simply chaos. However, WITHOUT fulfillment, a dog is bored and may become problematic because they are understimulated.
What does providing these building blocks look like?
❤️Loving your dog through their quirks, the training days that don't go as well as you hoped, through mistakes, meeting not only physical needs but emotional ones too, being over the MOON and rewarding when your dog gets it right!
🟠Holding your dog accountable for commands, setting boundaries for breaking rules, not allowing your dog to do things that may harm themselves or others.
🧩Doing things that make your dog happy or they were bred to do. Things that make them use their brain and body.
-Your dog LOVES to sniff? Try scent games or sports!
-Your dog loves to run or was originally bred for it? Bike joring, canicross, or fastCAT!
-Dog loves to swim? Dock diving or water retrieval!
-Loves tug? Add structure and obedience, make it a game!
-Your pup is like a super athlete? Agility, frisbee, or flyball!
There as so many ways to add all these building blocks into your pups life. The real trick is getting the right amount of each!
