As the month of May starts to wind down, we would love to see what you and your furry friends have been up to. 📸 In BreLyn’s household, Cheeto the shop cat soaked up the sun rays while BreLyn got her flowers and garden into place. 💐👩‍🌾🐈

With the weather getting warmer, more people are getting out with their pets and escaping to cooler temperatures in the mountains. Due to this, coming in contact with ticks is more prevalent. Until recently, tick-borne diseases found in dogs were low but now are found to be increasing. At our clinic, within the last few years we have had cases of dogs with Lyme disease that have not left the state.

May is known for Lyme Disease Prevention Month and we want to discuss what you can do to keep your pet safe!

Don’t forget two weeks from today we will be hosting our 1st Summer Series of Learning from 6-8pm. Our first topic will be about nasty parasites. With the weather already warmer and people getting out more with their pets, coming in contact with parasites increases. If parasites are left untreated, they can cause severe illnesses.

Come on down June 10th and learn more about parasites. Light refreshments will be provided by Sara!

Today, we should all take some time to honor and remember the brave service men and women as well as military working dogs who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. A simple ‘thank you’ will never be enough but truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Please remember we are closed today and will resume normal business hours tomorrow. If you are BBQing and enjoying the start of summer today, remember to keep food and drink items out of reach from your pets. Also keep an eye on the outdoor temperature. If you are warm, then your pet is certainly warm too. Like most summer holidays fireworks are common so secure your pet in case they get startled.

05/22/2026

Friendly reminder: We will be closed Memorial Day (May 25th) and resume normal business hours Tuesday the 26th at 8am. If your pet experiences any sort of medical emergency please contact Animal ER of the Western Slope located at 1660 North Ave, Grand Junction CO 81501 and their phone number is 970-525-0911. They are open 24/7. Have a safe and wonderful holiday weekend!🇺🇸

If you ever came into the clinic (expecially on a Thursday) then you were probably greeted by this 80 # golden floof of love. It didn’t matter who it was, big or small Walter was bound determined to greet you at the door. Even if his mom BreLyn tried her hardest to make him mind. 🐾

Walter was our clinics unofficial mascot. He was filmed on our medical Mondays, used as a mentor for social media, and our greeter on Walter Thursdays. He was always a willingly patient for Dr. Fromm just as long as she gave him some extra scratches and a treat. A special dog he was. 🦮

Last week as a team, we had to make a difficult decision for Walter that all pet owners do when their animal gets ill and there are no other options. Losing any pet is difficult but this one hits especially close. 🌈

We know many of you looked forward to seeing Walter at the clinic and he was loved by all. 🐶

Even though some cases like Walter’s are untreatable, fortunately others cases are. Please don’t forget that our clinic has an angel fund for those pets who may need care but funds may be limited for owners at that time. A small donation goes a long way.💛

Like Walter would’ve wanted, have a joyful day and make sure to give your fur babies some extra love🫶

The power of the cold wet cloth, frozen peas, or an ice pack!!!

Does your pet try to eat or chomp the 🌶️ flies (aka wasps or 🐝), then has a little or a lot of swelling?

Do the gnats, ants 🐜, or other biting insects leave your pet bumby, itchy, or hived out?

Apply a cold wet cloth or ice 🧊 helps relieve the swelling, a decreases the pain.

Please make sure if using frozen peas or an ice pack, make sure you wrap it so it won’t come in direct contact to your pet.

Call us if you have questions on what OTC can be helpful.

Call and seek medical attention ASAP if you feel that your pet is having a severe reaction!!! Trouble breathing, discolored gums or tongue, not acting normal are some of the severe symptoms.
