This week is , and we could not be prouder of our incredible vet team! ❤️

Pictured here is our Veterinary Services Manager, Caitlyn Murphy, RVT; our Veterinary Assistant, Brittany Hesterman; and one of our amazing contract veterinarians, Dr. Macy Plano, on our very first surgery day in our new surgical suite earlier this month.

These ladies compassionately nurse our sick, injured, and homeless pets through some of the scariest days of their lives. They not only oversee the health and surgical needs of our own shelter pets, but also pets from other local animal welfare agencies and owned pets in our community who come to Roice-Hurst for their spay/neuter surgeries.

We can’t speak highly enough of these wonderful humans, and we are so grateful for their work at Roice-Hurst. And to all of the vet techs and other veterinary professionals in our community and beyond, thank you for the skill and heart you bring to the animals you care for.

Do you have any extra blankets or comforters lying around? Our shelter dogs would love to use them! 🙏 We use blankets to create cozy sleeping spaces in our indoor dog kennels, and we’re running low. Your old blankets make a world of difference for dogs like Stark, a 12-year-old senior who appreciates having a soft spot to hang out while she awaits a medical procedure.

If you have blankets to share, please drop them off at our shelter building at 362 28 Road in Grand Junction. Thank you so much! ❤️

(Please no thin bedsheets; our biggest need is thicker blankets that would be comfy to lay on!)

Here’s what you need to know about accessing low-cost spay/neuter, vaccination, and microchipping services at Roice-Hurst!

Throwback to last year’s Howl-o-ween 5K organized by the Grand Junction Sports Commission! 🎃 This year’s race and costume contest is Saturday, October 24 at 10am at Las Colonias Park, and we’d love to see you and your furry friend dressed your best at the Roice-Hurst booth! Run or walk the full 5K, or opt for the shorter one mile route.

This year’s race proceeds benefit the Western Colorado Companion Animal Response Team (WestCo CART), a new local coalition that coordinates resources for companion animals during emergencies and disasters in Mesa County.
