Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

🐾 Team Spotlight: Janina 🐾

Janina has been dedicated to the veterinary field for over four years, bringing compassion, curiosity, and a genuine love for animals to our team. Originally from Chicago, she made a bold career change from journalism to pursue her lifelong dream of working with animals — and we’re so glad she did!

Her passion for veterinary medicine is fueled by her own animal family, which includes three beloved fur babies and two lovable reptiles 🐶🐱🦎. Janina is currently training to become a veterinary technician, with a strong commitment to continuing her education and expanding her skills to provide the best possible care for every patient.

Looking ahead, Janina dreams of someday opening her own animal rescue organization, creating a safe haven for animals in need of love, care, and second chances. Her warmth, dedication, and enthusiasm make her an invaluable part of our team, and she looks forward to caring for your pets with the same passion she has for her own. 💙🐾

🐾 Team Spotlight: Kass 🐾

Kass grew up in California and moved to Colorado in 1979 to be closer to family. After spending many years working in retail and running a home day care, she decided it was time for a change and joined VCA Tiara Rado Animal Hospital in 2016 — a decision we’re very grateful for!

Kass has a deep love and appreciation for the outdoors and spends her free time with her husband of 20 years, Chris, adventuring in their side-by-side, riding their motorcycle, camping, and enjoying time on the lake 🌄🏍️. When she’s not exploring, you might find her hiking a trail, practicing yoga, or treating herself to her favorite glass of w**e 🍷.

She also loves spending time with her three kids and five amazing grandkids, who keep life full and fun. Kass’s warmth and kindness make her a joy for both our clients and our team, and we’re so happy to have her with us! 💙🐾

🐾 Team Spotlight: Karami 🐾

Karami first discovered her love for working with animals while working with Dr. Marquis nearly 20 years ago. After that chapter, she spent many years in the human medical field, working in Urology, Ophthalmology, and Cardiology practices. While she gained valuable experience and knowledge, her heart was always happiest when she was around animals — especially kittens 🐱.

In 2020, Karami followed her heart and returned to VCA Tiara Rado Animal Hospital as a Client Service Representative. Her hospitality, warmth, and compassion make her a perfect fit for both our clients and our team, and she helps set the tone for a welcoming experience from the moment you walk through the door.

Outside of work, Karami enjoys spoiling her cats and spending quality time caring for her family. We’re so grateful to have her back where she belongs! 💙🐾

A Grand Junction native, Emy is a graduate of the CMU Tech program and brings a strong foundation of hands-on, technical skills to our team. Her attention to detail and dedication help keep our patients safe and comfortable every day.

Outside the hospital, Emy loves staying active — whether that’s hitting the gym, exploring Colorado’s hiking trails, or taking road trips to discover new places 🚗⛰️. At home, she enjoys relaxing with her cat, Paulo 🐱.

🐾 Team Spotlight: Chelsea 🐾

Born and raised in Colorado, Chelsea was part of the very first graduating class at CMU Tech — a milestone she’s proud to share with our community. She brings that same dedication and care into her work every day.

At home, Chelsea shares her life with a mini zoo of animals, each with their own unique quirks and charm 🐾. When she’s not caring for patients or wrangling animals, she enjoys spending her free time reading, painting, or relaxing out on the water with her paddle board.

We’re grateful to have Chelsea on our team and appreciate the compassion, creativity, and calm energy she brings to our hospital! 💙🐾

🐾 Team Spotlight: Audrey 🐾

Raised in the hustle and bustle of a big city, Audrey found her true home in Western Colorado. Growing up, she was always the first one awake — heading straight to the barn to spend time with the animals before catching the bus to school. She also learned early on that when it came to bringing home new animals, it was often easier to ask for forgiveness than permission 😉

Audrey has worked as a veterinary technician for over five years, with a special interest in anesthesia and surgical procedures. Her skill, focus, and calm presence play a key role in keeping patients safe and comfortable during their procedures.

When she’s not caring for animals, Audrey enjoys spending time with her husband, going on adventures with their two dogs, and taking long romantic strolls through Target 🛒💙.

We’re so thankful to have Audrey as part of our team and appreciate the care and dedication she brings to our patients every day! 🐾✨

🐾 Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Wendy Harley 🐾

We’re excited to spotlight Dr. Wendy Harley, our Rehabilitation veterinarian here at VCA Tiara Rado Animal Hospital. A Colorado native, Dr. Harley grew up on the Front Range and graduated from Colorado State University in 1998. She moved to Grand Junction in 2019 and joined our team in 2021 as our dedicated rehab doctor.

About 10 years ago, Dr. Harley developed a strong interest in the benefits of physical medicine and returned to school in 2013 to earn her certifications in rehabilitation and acupuncture. She brings a calm, patient-led approach to every appointment, earning trust by following each patient’s comfort level and needs.

Dr. Harley is equally passionate about supporting pet owners — setting goals together, addressing concerns and fears, and making sure everyone involved feels confident and comfortable. Treatments may include massage, acupuncture, laser therapy, muscle stimulation, and targeted exercises to strengthen and stretch — all while intentionally creating a positive, low-stress experience.

Many of her patients love visiting her at the “rehab house” and find it far less nerve-wracking than a traditional vet visit! 💙🐾

We’re grateful to have Dr. Harley’s compassion, expertise, and gentle presence caring for our patients every day.

🐾 Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Ferris 🐾

We’re excited to spotlight Dr. Ferris, a valued member of the VCA Tiara Rado Animal Hospital team since July 2020. Dr. Ferris grew up in Florida, attended Florida State University, and earned her DVM from Ross University in 2008. She spent 12 years practicing in Northeast Georgia before relocating to Grand Junction with her family — drawn by the area’s world-class mountain biking.

Dr. Ferris has a strong interest in surgery, internal medicine, and exotic pet care, and truly enjoys working with our wonderful patients, clients, and team. Her thoughtful approach and dedication to quality medicine make her a joy to work with and a trusted doctor for many of our families.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Ferris loves mountain biking, hiking, and camping. Her home life is happily full — her family “zoo” includes her husband, two daughters, two dogs, two cats, two rabbits, and seven chickens 🐶🐱🐰🐔.

We’re so glad Dr. Ferris is part of our team and appreciate everything she brings to our hospital and community! 💙🐾

🐾 Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Troy Everson 🐾

We’re proud to spotlight Dr. Troy Everson, whose path to veterinary medicine is as unique as his skill set. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Everson initially pursued a career as a wildlife biologist. While volunteering with Nebraska Raptor Recovery and working hands-on with injured animals, he discovered his passion for veterinary medicine and never looked back. He is a graduate of the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Everson is ABVP-certified (American Board of Veterinary Practitioners) — a distinction earned through advanced training, rigorous testing, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in veterinary medicine. This certification reflects his dedication to the highest standards of patient care and ongoing learning.

He is highly trained in orthopedic surgery, including TPLO procedures and fracture repairs, and is certified in physical therapy, acupuncture, and veterinary chiropractic therapy. Dr. Everson has also received extensive training in cardiac and abdominal ultrasound, allowing for advanced diagnostic capabilities. He remains passionate about continuing education and learning new techniques to better serve our patients at VCA Tiara Rado Animal Hospital.

Dr. Everson and his wife, Hillary, moved to Grand Junction from Nebraska to be closer to family. Their crew includes Ronnie the pug and Scottish Fold cats Baloo and Binx 🐶🐱. Outside the clinic, he enjoys motorcycle and bicycle riding — and playing the mandolin.

🐾 Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Tara Suplizio 🐾

We’re grateful to have Dr. Tara Suplizio as part of our veterinary team! 💙 A Colorado State University graduate, Dr. Suplizio grew up on the East Coast and has called Colorado home since 1991. What she finds most rewarding in veterinary medicine is educating and empowering clients to confidently care for their pets.

Dr. Suplizio is certified in acupuncture, low-level laser therapy, and veterinary orthopedic manipulation, bringing a thoughtful, integrative approach to patient care.

Outside the clinic, she stays busy with her two dogs (Finn & Rue), two cats (Rio & Pedro), plus goats, chickens, and honey bees 🐶🐱🐐. She loves outdoor adventures like biking, rafting, kayaking, skiing, and hiking, and is also a proud mom of three sons in college.

We’re lucky to have Dr. Suplizio caring for your pets every day! 🐾💫
