Finally getting on the “face jail” trend to prevent Pipsqueak from eating 💩 and to protect his little face when he’s ripping thru the dunes with the big dogs!

I highly recommend the OutFox for Dogs brand bonnet which is designed to protect dogs from sharp foxtails, while allowing plenty of room to pant, drink, and be comfortable. This was within 5 min of me introducing it and he’s already comfortable wearing it around the room.

I also got the big dog bonnet in case any clients was to test drive it with their dogs in a session!

There’s still time to sign up for our fall puppy class that starts next week!

This 6-wk class follows the AKC Puppy S.T.A.R. program to help puppies (between 8 weeks and 1 year of age) learn basic manners and resolve problem behaviors like jumping, mouthing, and house-training accidents. We will also cover topics like loose leash walking, calm greetings with people, neutrality towards distractions, and more. Week 1 is for owners-only (no puppies) and weeks 2-6 include puppies for hands-on exercises and play time for socialization.

Class will be held at the Church of the Dunes, located at 717 Sheldon Rd. Grand Haven, MI 49417. Please use back parking lot and back entrance to the social room.

Protection vs Aggression.

Protective dogs respond to actual threats with controlled judgement. While aggressive dogs react with hostility to neutral or normal situations out of fear, lack of control, or instability.

Protective Behavior:

Reads the context and stays calm until a real danger appears.
Focuses on deterrence, loyalty, and shielding family or territory.
Acts with a steady, stable temperament and stops when told or when the threat is gone.

Aggressive Behavior:

Treats normal events, strangers, or minor noises as immediate threats.
Shows rigid posture, constant snarling, or unprovoked charging.
Operates out of reactivity or fear rather than clear reasoning, making the dog dangerous and unpredictable.

ADVANCED GROUP CLASS!

SEPTEMBER 23rd 10AM!

This class is for clients that have completed at least 3 private training sessions and laid the foundation of leash and “yes” work with their dog. We will be covering advanced handling technique, working real world distractions, and creating socialization opportunities tailored to each dog.
