Argo got to work in one of my students hands today, under supervision of course. On top of my students getting experience working with different types of horses, training levels, and disciplines, this is also a great training experience for the horses. Sometimes our training horses get too comfortable in one persons hands and regress when we put someone different in the lead. By integrating the training horses into my lesson program they get a variety of experience in different hands making the horse better all around and the students more confident. Argo was steady today in her progress she has made this far, giving to pressure, moving her feet and carrying a rider. Just what I like to see.

Argo has a pretty good mount from both sides, as well as giving to the rein pressure, so she is learning to move her feet today. We have a little more hind end movement than I like to see when asking to move off my leg.. So we are going to spend some more time working on engaging our front end. I start these cues on the ground, with vocal and pressure cues, it makes the transfer to riding easier and then I can also gage her reaction on leg pressure.
