It’s honestly crazy to think that this November I’ll be 27… and I’ll have started my grooming journey 10 years ago 💜
I started grooming at 17 while apprenticing at a local veterinary clinic. I was learning to groom while also helping as a vet assistant, handling difficult dogs, medical shaves, sedated grooms, and pets that other places often couldn’t manage safely. Looking back, it was definitely a trial-by-fire way to learn grooming 😅
After that I spent a couple years in college studying science, mainly chemistry and biology, before eventually returning to veterinary work for a short time and then back into grooming full-time.
From there I moved into mobile grooming, first working throughout the Wenatchee, Entiat, Chelan, and Manson areas before eventually buying my grooming bus and starting my own business. I serviced areas like Waterville, Brewster, and Grand Coulee, and later opened my own brick-and-mortar salon.
Then life changed again. I got married, became a mom, and eventually decided to close the storefront. Selling the salon actually helped us buy our home locally, which gave me the opportunity to reopen in a way that better fit the life I wanted.
Now I work from my home salon in a much calmer, one-on-one environment where clients get to interact with our rescue farm, the dogs get more individualized attention, and I get to spend more time with my little one.
After years of high-volume grooming, mobile grooming, and storefront life, I’ve really come to appreciate the slower and more personal atmosphere I have now.
And one of the best parts has honestly been working alongside my mom. She’s become an incredible bather (seriously, one of the best I’ve ever worked with), and together we make a pretty great team.
I’m incredibly thankful for everyone who has supported me through every stage of this journey. It’s wild to think this all started 10 years ago with a nervous 17-year-old trying to learn how to hold a pair of scissors 💜
