Today's category of enrichment is cognitive: using your dog's brain.

This could include:
🐕 turning their mealtime into a training session
🐕 attending group or private training lessons
🐕 giving them novel experiences - has your dog ever been to a pet store? A new park? The beach?

Check back tomorrow at 10:00AM, when we will be wrapping up our discussion of canine enrichment.

🤦🏼‍♀️ I turned my back for 5 seconds and apparently that’s long enough for someone to attempt some “pawkour”

Today's category of sensory enrichment is tactile: all about your dog's sense of touch. You could:

🐕 give them a massage or a good brushing
🐕 take them somewhere new that has new textures to walk on. Some dogs aren't used to gravel while others have never been anywhere with sand, and we live so close to Lake Erie!

Sometimes scent work class can be TOO exciting 😅, like when someone is ominously standing in the corner who smells like a bunch of dogs and farm animals….

Thinking of trying something new with your dog? Try our Scent Work 101 class with our awesome trainer Savannah!

Starting Tuesday, October 27th at 7pm, for the next four weeks!

Today's type of sensory enrichment is olfactory. This targets and engages your dog's sense of smell. To offer your dog this type of enrichment, you could:

🐕 take them on a sniffari (AKA a sniff walk!)
🐕 some toys at the pet stores are infused with different smells
🐕 purchase and use a SMALL AMOUNT of animal scents for your dog to investigate (they can sometimes be stinky so be careful); these are made for training hunting dogs and could smell like rabbit, duck, squirrel, etc.

Tomorrow we are talking about tactile enrichment for your dog's sense of touch!
