Chris mowed in a new section of trail and the dogs are loving all the scents kicked up by the brush hog!

Welcome Tess to the family! With the sale of Hope we had to balance things back out so one of the horses can travel while the other still has a buddy. Tess is a 14 year old unregistered mare, who just missed the pony cutoff by reaching 14.3 3/4 hands. She is honest as they come, and while she is ready to hit the ground running, I am going to spend some time getting to know her!

Our lovely Cleo is three months old today! Things she does:
Sit
Down
Here (around 75% of the time😅)
Sit to release for doors and meal times
Kennel

Things we are working on:
All of the above
Stay
Heel on leash

She absolutely loves Drake, and is finding her chessie voice big time over the last couple of weeks. She’s 29.6lbs of pure raw get stuff done energy. We have also entered teething he🏒🏒, yay! But that just means she’s closer to getting out on some birds when her mouth isn’t so sore.

How are chessies with other dogs? See for yourself! Cleo is far from Drake’s first puppy, so he’s seasoned in managing them. However, Cleo herself has already shown that she can appropriately correct and escalate in response to bad behavior from other dogs. So far, I have not met a chessie who wasn’t phenomenal at holding other dogs accountable; it’s just the people that don’t like it.

A heatwave doesn’t mean anything when you’ve got somewhere to swim right in your backyard! The water dogs sure did enjoy it.

The deadline for final signup for the thoroughbred makeover has come and gone, and Hope and I have withdrawn. Hope is, and always has been, a very sensitive horse. While she thrives at home, she also struggles when there is any notable change in the environment. The Kentucky horse park, and the makeover, are not a small or quiet venue. At the end of the day, the horse always comes first even if that looks like a change in plans.
