We often tell the story of one animal in need. Today, we’re telling the story of 130.

In August, 130 cats from a single source arrived at Foothills Animal Shelter, many needing extensive medical treatment for respiratory infections, ringworm, malnutrition, and dental disease, along with specialized behavioral care. Some needed treatment for multiple conditions, and highly contagious illnesses like ringworm can take weeks or even months to resolve.

Nearly two months later, 40 of these cats are still with us, receiving the support they need to recover and prepare for their new beginnings. But caring for just one cat from these overcrowded situations costs an average of $2,000. When 130 cats need this level of care all at once, those expenses add up quickly.

Right now, thanks to a generous donor, every dollar you give, up to $10,000, will be doubled. Your gift doubles the impact of your generosity and helps make new beginnings possible. https://4agc.com/donate/second-chance

Veterinary Services Appreciation Week…is here! 🎉

This week, we’re celebrating the veterinary services team and the expertise they bring to the care of animals at Foothills. This team provides skilled medical assessment and treatment every day—supporting everything from preventative care and recovery to urgent needs that require quick thinking and steady hands.

Veterinary services staff make thoughtful decisions, adapt plans as animals’ needs change, and collaborate closely with teams across the shelter to support comfort and well-being throughout an animal’s stay. Their work makes a meaningful difference for thousands of animals each year.

Thank you, Veterinary Services, for your skill, professionalism, and commitment to patient care. We’re grateful for you and glad to celebrate you this week.

Meet our Foothills alum, Isha! 🐾

In the year that we’ve had Isha, we have discovered that she is a professional toy destroyer; she loves chicken feet, sunbathing, and dropping her toys on our faces when we’re lying down. She loves going to the dog park, car rides, and staring out windows (probably daydreaming about chasing all the bunnies in our neighborhood). She is a phenomenal cuddler and loves sleeping in our arms like a teddy bear or going under the blankets.

She is a very curious dog, and it always brings a smile to our face when you see her tilt her head and really examine something, whether it’s birds in the sky or a dog on the TV. She’s so smart. We’ve taught her a couple of tricks, and when we give her food, she tries to predict what tricks we will ask of her by doing them before we even ask. Long story short, it has been a pleasure to watch her as she’s grown comfortable and to discover all these quirks about her. We’ve never met a dog like her, and we’re so grateful that we were the lucky ones who got her. Without you, our little family would have never been complete."

No one loves fall more than Mikey 🍂

Mikey is a sweet dog who’s ready to bring plenty of love to his new home. Mikey has shown us nothing but joy, curiosity, and a big heart from the moment he came through our doors! He starts his walks eager to lead the way as he explores, and in the play yard, Mikey shows off his fun, goofy side by chasing the ball, slowly sauntering back proudly with it in his mouth, then dropping it at your feet in exchange for a treat.

Whether you’re looking for a walking buddy or a companion to share your days with, Mikey is happy to be by your side. He’s excited to start his next chapter with a loving family! Plus, right now, Mikey's adoption fee is 50% off as part of our Adopt a Shelter Dog Month promo! https://foothillsanimalshelter.org/pets/mikey/
