28 days with Scottie š¤š¾
Teaching recall looks a little different when your dog canāt hear you. With Scottie, it took patience, repetition, and finding a way to communicate in her language.
We used hand signals and a vibration collar to get her attention and teach her commands. Recall especially took time; Jose Jr. would spend 25 minutes at a time working on recall with Scottieārepeating it, building trust, and helping her understand what we were asking of her. Little by little, everything started to click.
One of the most important parts of Scottieās training was including her family in the process. They came out and trained with us many days throughout her 28-day stay, learning the same hand signals, vibration collar communication, and techniques we were using. We didnāt just want Scottie to understand us, we wanted to help build that same connection and communication with her family.
Somewhere throughout those 28 days, Scottie became part of our WOM Dog family too. š¤ We learned her language, built a special bond with her, and loved watching her confidence and understanding grow.
Scottie reminded us that communication doesnāt always need words. Sometimes it just takes patience, trust, and taking the time to understand each other.
Weāre so proud of you, Scottie! We definitely miss having you around! š¾š¤
