Goldens of Knife River

Goldens of Knife River Goldens of Knife River is a longtime family breeder of AKC Golden Retrievers, specializing in field retrievers. Simba aka Dan was bred to Annie.

Our Goldens are for the active individual, those wanting to spend time in the company of a competitive working dog. We are excited to be reestablishing the foundation line of ANNIE of Knife River (Annie) and Simba the King V (Dan) to Goldens of Knife River. Annie and Dan were my childhood golden retrievers - my best friends. Annie and Dan were named after the dogs in Where The Red Fern Grows by Wi

lson Rawls. However, after living on the ranch for a few weeks, he became a barker, who loved howling all night. Because he was causing problems in the neighbor with his howling, his owner, who lived in Dickinson then gave him to us to keep. I was a lucky boy, who now had two outstanding Golden Retrievers. Annie's Great Grand Sire is none other than the renowned NAFC FC AFC Topbrass Cotton OS FDHF owned by Jackie Mertens. Dan's lineage can be traced to field and show champions as well. It's a sound lineage. Sadly, Annie died from a broken heart a year after the unexpected death of my father. She loved him dearly. Grief affects us all, humans and canines. Our love for each other is unconditional. Tragically, five years later, Dan died in an a vehicular accident on the ranch. However, their lineage continued with their pup Maddee Mae of Knife River owned by Kent and Faye Roth. Maddee was bred to Artic Golden Cedar Beck, whose breeder was Iditarod Racer, Silvia Willis. Maddee's shining star is Artic Mercer of Knife River. Mercer is a retired drug dog from the Mercer County Sheriff's Office. For his second career, Mercer is the work partner to licensed school counselor, Tammy P. Roth in Minnesota. Mercer and his son, Hank share therapy dog duties throughout the week at the Morris Area Elementary School. They are loved and adored by children and college students in the region. Mercer has sired several outstanding dogs that excel in hunting, dock diving, agility, scent detection and obedience. Roth's Cedar Flint on the Prairie (Motlee) is the sire that we have selected to reestablish Annie and Dan's line at Goldens of Knife River. Motlee is the great grandpup of Annie and Dan. Our line of pups are working pups for the active individual. Their success lies with the training and commitment of their owner. These pups will give you years of great joy. May you find your dream dog in a pup from Goldens of Knife River.
