Did You Know? Dog Boots Come in Different Styles for Different Purposes!

Many people are surprised to learn that not all dog boots are created equal. Just like humans have different footwear for different activities, dogs also benefit from boots specifically designed for their environment and needs.

For example, our HRD K9 wears specialized boots when working in the harsh desert terrain. These boots are designed to provide protection from rough surfaces, rocks, thorns, and other environmental hazards commonly encountered during search operations. However, those same boots would not be the best choice for walking on hot pavement or concrete.

For everyday walks during Arizona's hot summer months, we recommend boots specifically designed to protect paw pads from hot surfaces while still allowing airflow to help keep your dog comfortable. These boots help shield sensitive paw pads from burns while allowing the feet to breathe, making them an excellent choice for our desert lifestyle. ( these boots are not Dog Crocs)

Photos from today's Private In-Home Training with Bella and her mom and dad. Today's training session was focused on down command this was a command that needs to be performed exceptionally well by Bella as she is training as a service dog. Not all training sessions are about forward movement, sitting, look. place, sometimes it's one command for that session..training always has to be fun for the dog our sessions are done at Bella's pace not ours. She is coming along so nicely.

While conducting in-home training in Bullhead City today, we were asked to check the temperature of outdoor surfaces. Although asphalt was our primary focus, we also checked concrete and gravel.

The air temperature was 107°F, but the asphalt measured an astonishing 150°F. Concrete and gravel were also extremely hot and capable of causing burns after only brief contact.

These temperatures can pose a serious risk to people and animals alike. If a child or elderly person were to fall and remain in contact with these surfaces, second- and third-degree burns could occur in a matter of seconds.

For dog owners, the concern is different but just as important. A dog's paw pads are vulnerable to hot pavement, concrete, and gravel and can suffer painful burns from prolonged exposure to these surfaces.

Before walking your dog, place the back of your hand on the surface for several seconds. If it is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for your dog's paws. Consider walking during the early morning or evening hours when surfaces have had a chance to cool.

Please stay safe this summer, protect children and elderly family members from hot surfaces, and remember to protect your dog's paws as well. A few extra precautions can prevent a painful injury.

We Focused on teaching Whila and her mom how to pair the E-collar to her obedience commands this skill takes time and patience, timing both did a great job working together this skill needs to be done in a fun positive manner.

Izzabella and her dad worked on long line recalls at her young age having a long line is a must it teaches her who she needs to recall to keeps her safe while working at a distance. She did really good learning this skill.

Both girls than got to play on the equipment all this put together builds a very strong relationship, trust and an unbreakable bond between human and dog you need to have all these not one or two

We also worked on bounce back recalls at this point Gunny thinks it's a fun game right now but little does she know it will also be a important task. Great job.
