When is a horse finished? 30 days? 90 days? A year?

The truth? Never.

A lot of folks think once a horse is trained, they’re just set for life. But training isn’t a milestone you hit — it’s something you maintain.

Every ride matters. Every cue, every correction, every time you ask for something — or let something slide — you’re training that horse.

A finished horse can backslide just as easily as a young horse can learn. They need consistency, tune-ups, groundwork, and miles to keep them soft, responsive, and confident.

Whether you buy a $3,000 horse or a $30,000 horse, the training isn’t a lifetime warranty.

Somebody’s missing out on a pretty darn nice gelding.’ Bob is an 8-year-old gelding 14.2 hands This horse has been there, done a bit of everything. Rides and drives.4-H, fun shows, rodeos, barrel races, plus a solid 60 plus day tune-up with me. Quiet, cool, easygoing. No buck, no spook. We’ve carried a flag, worked the rope dummy, obstacles, trails, and ranch chores. I think he could make someone a nice rope or ranch horse, trail partner, or just a good all-around gelding. Fireball’s journey has been super fun to be a part of. She came to me this spring as a 4-year-old with about 30 days of training last year, and over the past four months, we’ve built a solid foundation together. My goal isn’t just to put rides on a horse, it’s to help make a well-rounded partner who’s ready for anything. Trails, sorting, ranch work, obstacles, or just a safe ride at home. I take a ton of pride in each horse that comes through, and right now I’m opening a few spots for training. And there’s also a good chance I’ll have an indoor setup this winter so training doesn’t have to stop.
