There's a certain kind of satisfaction that comes with watching calves out on summer pasture for the first time. πŸ„β˜€οΈ

All the early mornings, the calving checks, the weaning stress, the feed adjustments... it all leads to this. Animals that are healthy, curious, and thriving.

June has a way of paying you back for everything you put in during the harder months. πŸ™Œ

Sunny days, fresh grass, and a ball within reach. This is living. πŸ™Œ

June was practically made for afternoons like this one. Your dog doesn't need much to have the best day ever, and that's honestly one of the best things about them. 🐾

June tip for backyard flock keepers πŸ”

Longer days mean more light, and more light means hens that are working harder. Hens laying consistently in summer heat have higher calcium and protein demands than most people realize.

Three things to check this month:
βœ… Are your layers on a dedicated layer feed rather than scratch or mixed grain?
βœ… Is oyster shell available free-choice so hens can self-regulate calcium?
βœ… Are you checking water daily? Hens in heat can drink twice their normal intake.

A small adjustment now can make a big difference in egg quality and shell thickness heading into the hottest weeks of summer. πŸ₯š

There is something really grounding about a flock that trusts you. πŸ‘

Good feed. Clean water. Attentive care. It sounds simple because it is. And the animals that thrive are usually the ones whose people never stopped paying attention to those fundamentals.

Beach days with your pup are everything. 🌊🐾

But before you hit the sand this June, here are a few things to keep in mind: rinse off saltwater after swimming, watch for overheating on hot sand, bring fresh water, and check if the beach is pet friendly first!

A little prep goes a long way for a safe and fun day out. β˜€οΈ

Hot take: hay quality matters just as much in summer as it does in winter. 🌾

Here's something a lot of horse owners don't think about until there's a problem. When pasture quality peaks in early summer, horses on full turnout may actually be taking in less dry matter than you think because fresh grass is mostly water.

Horses still need consistent forage to keep the hindgut moving. Pulling hay entirely when pasture looks great can quietly lead to digestive upset, changes in manure, or unexplained behavior shifts.

A simple rule to keep in mind: forage first, always. Even in June. πŸ™Œ

Living his best life and honestly? Same. β˜€οΈβ›΅

There's nothing quite like watching your dog soak up every single moment of summer. Whether it's the water, the wind, or just the warm sun on their face, dogs have a way of reminding us to slow down and enjoy it all.

Where is your pup spending their summer days? Tell us below! 🐾

Brae Is More Than Her Diagnosis πŸΎπŸ’œ

We know that hearing β€œAddison’s disease” can sound scary, so we want potential adopters to know exactly what to expect.

Prednisolone 5mg #30 (2 months) : ~$25 per fill
Zycortal bottle (needs 1 injection per month at 0.4ml per injection) : ~ $260 per bottle
Bi-Annual bloodwork (twice a year to check CBC / chemistry: ~ $230

Total yearly cost is ~$870

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

Why Does Brae Need Ongoing Medication and Monitoring? πŸΎπŸ’œ

Her monthly Zycortal injection replaces the hormone responsible for maintaining proper sodium and potassium levels, while her daily Prednisolone replaces the cortisol her body is unable to produce on its own. These medications help keep her healthy, active, and feeling her best.

Brae also needs bloodwork twice a year so her veterinarian can monitor her electrolytes and overall health, ensuring her medications are working properly and allowing adjustments if needed.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

Brae Is Worth Every Penny… and Then Some. πŸΎπŸ’œ

While that may seem like a lot, what you get in return is priceless. Brae is a happy, loving girl who deserves the same chance at a forever home as any other dog. She didn’t choose to have Addison’s disease, but she faces it every day with a wagging tail and a heart full of love.

Please don’t let her diagnosis be the reason she gets overlooked. Brae is not defined by her medical conditionβ€”she’s defined by her resilience, her sweet personality, and the unconditional love she has to give.

A little extra care is all she needs. A forever family is all she wants. πŸ’œπŸΎ

She is STILL available at County Line Pet Hospital for adoption or rescue pull
