*Place the carrier in plain sight, always within their reach.
*Leave the door open. We want it to be inviting.
*Place a blanket or towel. Use one that bears your cat's scent.

An event is scheduled in our area tomorrow, Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Please give yourself extra time to get to Rau Animal Hospital if you plan to be at the office before noon.

Abington Township Reported the following:

“Please be advised that on Saturday, May 30th, the Abington Triathlon event will be taking place in our community. To ensure the safety of participants and the public, some streets along the race route will be partially closed between 6:45 AM and 11:00 AM. Feel free to come out and cheer on the athletes!

While streets will not be completely closed, traffic will be restricted, and delays should be expected in the following areas. Volunteers will be stationed at key intersections to assist with traffic flow and ensure safe crossings.

To help ensure safety and reduce congestion, we kindly ask residents to move vehicles off the race route in advance, if possible. This will improve visibility and allow the event to proceed more smoothly. Please note: No vehicles will be fined or towed — this is simply a friendly request to help support a safe and smooth event.

What is a bland diet?

*Boiled Chicken and White Steamed Rice.
*Lean Ground Turkey and White Steamed Rice. This is a great alternative for poultry-sensitive dogs.
*Extra-Lean Ground Beef and White Steamed Rice . We recommend using 90% lean ground beef or leaner. (Drain excess fat).

We often discuss tips when traveling with your dog but we do not discuss traveling with your cat. We are seeing more people include their cats on vacation. How fun!

Tips:

*On the day of travel, it is a good idea to withhold breakfast from your cat to prevent nausea.
*Must stay hydrated, offer some water at any rest stops you make during the drive.
*You want to line the carrier with an absorbent “potty pad” in case your cat needs to urinate or defecate during travel.

Such as: vaccines, lab work, and dental care.
