PHILADELPHIA DOG STARVED TO THE BRINK OF DEATH AND THROWN OUT IN A TRASH BAG ALIVE

ROCKY UPDATE-HE IS STILL FIGHTING

I just spoke with Rocky's veterinarian and wanted to give everyone an update.

First, the good news: Rocky is stable. He has wagged his tail and when offered food, he wants to EAT. After everything this little guy has endured, that fight in him means everything to us. He is much older than the initial veterinarian thought....Pinnacle is putting him at around 10 years old.

The bad news: Rocky is still extremely weak, severely emaciated and dehydrated. His body score is 1/9 which is the lowest score possible. It indicates severe emaciation. He was starved almost to death and thrown out ALIVE in a trash bag. He has no muscle mass and is anemic with some heart disease mixed in.

Right now, the plan is supportive care, carefully administered fluids, nutrition, and TIME.

His prognosis is still unknown. The veterinarian expects Rocky will need to remain hospitalized for several days and we are taking this one day at a time.

We were told to anticipate approximately $2,000 per day for his hospitalization and treatment, with an initial expectation of $4,000-$6,000 or more depending on how Rocky responds and what additional care he needs.

He hasn't given up...we aren't giving up on him either. If you are able to donate towards Rocky's hospitalization-any amount helps. If you cannot donate, sharing his story helps tremendously.

We will continue providing updates and will be transparent about his condition and medical expenses as we receive them. I have filed a cruelty report with the PSPCA and will make every attempt to have someone held accountable for doing this to this sweet old dog. But our primary focus is Rocky's health.
