🐾🩺 Case of the Week: Meet Lilly! 🩺🐾
Sweet Lilly came to Bedrock Animal Clinic after her owners noticed blood in her urine. After her initial examination and urinalysis, we started Lilly on a one-week course of antibiotics, hoping to resolve the issue.
Unfortunately, after a few days, Lilly was still uncomfortable and continued showing signs of urinary trouble. Since her symptoms weren't improving, we performed radiographs (X-rays) to look for an underlying cause.
The X-rays revealed bladder stones, which were responsible for Lilly's discomfort and urinary bleeding. To treat the problem, our relief veterinarian, Dr. Stone, performed a cystotomy, a surgical procedure to open the bladder and safely remove the stones.
We're happy to report that Lilly came through surgery beautifully and is now recovering at home! 💕 We know she'll be feeling much more comfortable without those painful stones.
Bladder stones can cause symptoms such as:
🐾 Blood in the urine
🐾 Frequent urination
🐾 Straining to urinate
🐾 Accidents in the house
🐾 Discomfort while urinating
If your pet is showing any of these signs, don't wait to have them evaluated. While urinary tract infections are common, symptoms like these can also be caused by bladder stones or other urinary conditions that require additional diagnostics and treatment. Early intervention can help prevent more serious complications.
