🐑✂️ The Ladies Got a Spa Day! ✂️🐑

Thanks to our good friend and shearer Shamus, we now have a bunch of naked ladies running around the place! 😂🐑

The ewes got their annual spa day earlier this week, and they are looking pretty sharp in their new summer outfits. There’s nothing quite like a fresh shearing to make a sheep feel a little lighter—and make the barn look a whole lot different!

We’re incredibly thankful for talented shearers like Shamus who keep our girls looking and feeling their best. It takes a special person to work with sheep all day.

🏆🐑 Congratulations, Connley! 🐑🏆

We are incredibly proud to congratulate Connley on earning a Silver Proficiency Award in Sheep Production at the National FFA level! 💙💛

Connley has been fortunate enough to have two different proficiency applications win at the Montana state level and advance to National FFA judging—an accomplishment that represents years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to his SAE projects.

In 2025, his Equine Science Proficiency advanced to the National level and was selected as a National Finalist.

This year, his Sheep Production Proficiency earned a Silver Award at the National level.

While the awards are exciting, what makes us the proudest is everything behind them. His SAE projects have taught him responsibility, record keeping, animal husbandry, business skills, perseverance, and what it means to see a project through from an idea to something that can stand up to national-level evaluation.

FFA has given Connley some incredible opportunities—to travel, compete, meet people from across the country, learn from industry professionals, and turn his passion for livestock and agriculture into real-world experience.

His sheep project has taken him places we never imagined when he first started, and we're excited to see where those experiences take him next.

Congratulations, Connley! We are incredibly proud of the young man you've become and the work ethic you've developed along the way.

Keep chasing those opportunities. Keep building your dreams. And keep doing what you love.

❤️ Happy Anniversary to Us ❤️

27 years ago, I met you.

25 years ago, we decided we probably ought to make it official. 😉 And here we are.

When I look back at the years we’ve shared, there has been a little bit of everything. We’ve watched dreams come true, lost a baby, raised a wonderful, hardworking young man, and weathered just as many hard times as good ones.

There have been laughter, tears, joy, smiles, frustration, adventure, and every emotion in between.

We’ve navigated job loss, retirement, changing careers, building a couple of small businesses, and somehow managed to build a barnyard by hand along the way.

We never seem to catch up.

And honestly, I’m not sure we ever will. 😂

But I do know this: no matter how hard or how easy life has been, we have continued to hang on for the ride.

You would probably prefer a quieter, simpler life than the one I’ve created for us. Yet somehow you continue to let me drag home critters, chase dreams, spend money on crazy ideas, and wear out vehicles and trailers traveling across the United States and Canada with horses and sheep.

You’ve watched me build businesses, change directions, pick up new passions, and somehow always find another project.

You don’t always understand my dreams—but you have always made room for them.

And I hope you know how much that means to me.

We’ve built a life that probably doesn’t look like the one either of us imagined 27 years ago. It’s messy. It’s busy. It’s exhausting. It’s sometimes financially questionable. 😂

But it’s ours.

Through the good, the bad, the heartbreaking, and the absolutely ridiculous, you’re still the person I want beside me.

So here’s to 27 years since that first meeting, 25 years of marriage, and whatever adventures are still ahead.

Dream Big. Work Hard. Love Harder.

📸🖤🤍 Cotton Had His Photo Shoot! 🤍🖤📸

Cotton had his photo shoot yesterday and WOW… did this boy decide to turn on the moves! 😍

We knew he was athletic, but watching him show off in front of the camera was something else. He was moving, posing, playing, and giving us ALL the personality.

And yes… there were 100+ photos to choose from. Narrowing them down was definitely not an easy job! 😂📸

This black-and-white tobiano c**t just keeps getting better. He’s conformationally correct, athletic, curious, and full of personality—and we can’t wait to see what his future holds.

Cotton is still looking for his forever family and will be the last foal we offer out of our mare Cowgirl.

We’ll be sharing more of his photo shoot, because there was simply no way we could keep all these good pictures to ourselves!

🫏💗 The Donkey Girls’ First Gotcha Day! 💗🫏

August 18 marks a pretty special milestone around here—it’s the first Gotcha Day for our donkey girls, Matcha & Peanut! 🥳🫏

It’s hard to believe it has already been a year since these two wild Arizona burros came into our lives and started their journey home to the Montana Badlands.

Brett and I decided every proper Gotcha Day celebration needs a little silliness, so we stopped at the dollar store and came home with pink hats, headbands, and a bucket of oats. 😂🎀🌾

🍵 Matcha absolutely amazed us. She tolerated the whole shenanigan like a seasoned professional. Hat? Fine. Headband? Sure. Oats? Now we’re talking. 😂

🥜 Peanut, on the other hand, was less than impressed with her new fashion statement. She was willing to participate, but we’re pretty sure she was thinking, “I came all the way from Arizona for THIS?” 😂

A year ago, these girls were untouched and unsure of people. Today, we’re celebrating them with ridiculous pink accessories, treats, scratches, and a whole lot of love.

They were supposed to be a project.

Instead, they became family.

Happy Gotcha Day, Matcha & Peanut! 💗 We can’t wait to see what the next year brings.

🫏💛 They Were Supposed to Be a Project… 💛🫏

If you had told me that two donkeys 🫏 would become so much more than just a project, I probably would have laughed at you.

In some ways, Matcha and Peanut were our empty-nest, midlife-crisis adventure. 😂 We thought we were taking on a challenge. Two completely untouched BLM burros, two very different personalities, and absolutely no idea just how much these girls were going to teach us.

What we didn’t expect was how deeply they would become part of our family.

They have become part of our daily routines, our conversations, our laughter, and our lives. They’ve even worked their way into the hearts of our family—including Russ, my father-in-law, who has become another important part of their world.

🍵 Matcha has truly turned a new leaf since making it through the summer fly season. The guarded girl who once questioned nearly everything is beginning to show us a different side of herself. There is more trust, more connection, and more willingness to let us into her world. Watching that transformation has been pretty incredible.

🥜 Peanut continues to be our ever-present, consistent girl. Curious, confident, and always ready to see what we’re up to—and, of course, whether we might have treats. She’s been our steady little reminder that sometimes confidence comes naturally, while other times it has to be patiently earned.

These two girls started out as a challenge.

Somewhere along the way, they became family.

And maybe that’s the funny thing about the animals we bring into our lives thinking we’re going to change them…

Sometimes they’re the ones who change us. 💛

Today is the day! Our boy Amplified is headed to the starting gate at Saratoga in Race 6!

Amplified is the second c**t we've added to our little micro-share racehorse adventure, and we are having an absolute blast experiencing this side of the horse industry. We didn't get into this to get rich—we did it for the thrill of owning a racehorse and watching him run! ❤️

Trainer Todd Pletcher has entered Amplified in a Maiden Special Weight on the turf, going 1 1/16 miles. He's not necessarily a turf-bred c**t, but Todd wanted to find a race at a distance that better fits Amplified's pedigree and racing potential, and this was the race that fit.
