Bennett arrived at MedVet Phoenix with some serious warning signs: dry-heaving, a swollen and painful abdomen, and foreign material in his stool.

Radiographs confirmed gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), a life-threatening condition where the stomach fills with gas and twists, along with foreign material in his stomach. Our Emergency and Critical Care teams quickly stabilized Bennett before taking him into surgery.

During surgery, our team discovered that Bennett’s stomach had not only twisted but also ruptured. His Surgery and Anesthesia teams worked together to address the complications and keep him as stable as possible.

Bennett spent six days in our ICU receiving around-the-clock care. Thankfully, he recovered well and was doing great at his 2-week follow-up! Now that he fully recovered, he looks forward to swimming and being a happy, playful pup. 🐶

Cookie and Oreo went from a frightening encounter with an unknown wild animal to a remarkable recovery. ❤️‍🩹

The pair arrived at MedVet Dayton’s ER with severe injuries, including collapsed lungs, fractured ribs, and numerous puncture wounds. Both required several days of hospitalization, while Cookie spent nearly a week receiving intensive care in the ICU.

Because Cookie had so many fractured ribs, she went home with a large chest bandage to help support her recovery. Thankfully, both dogs were soon home with their families, where they continued to heal.

A few weeks later, Cookie and Oreo are doing well and back to enjoying life together. We’re so happy to see these two on the road to recovery! ✨

Meet Archy, a very cute 1-year-old Italian Greyhound with quite the story to tell.

Archie first fractured his left front leg and needed surgery at MedVet Phoenix to repair the injury with a bone plate and screws. Just eight weeks later, he suffered a similar fracture in his right front leg, requiring another surgery with our team.

These types of fractures can occur in Italian Greyhounds because of their slender bone structure, especially in young, active dogs like Archy.

Now two weeks out from his second surgery, Archy is doing well at home and making great progress. We’re looking forward to seeing this little guy continue his recovery and get back to being his energetic self!

A beautiful day for dogs, community, and a great cause. 🐾

MedVet Columbus was proud to be a Premier Sponsor of the 18th Annual 5K for K9s at Alum Creek State Park, helping raise funds for dogs at the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center.

100% of the event’s proceeds support medical care for shelter dogs through Friends of the Shelter, an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to supporting the shelter and the animals in its care.

From the runners and walkers to the dogs who joined in on the fun, it was wonderful to see so many people come together to support dogs in our community.

Swipe through to see some of our favorite moments from the day!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Sonya Karchemskiy, Board-Certified Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist, to MedVet Mountain View.

With Dr. Karchemskiy joining the team, MedVet Mountain View is expanding access to Internal Medicine, with appointments available Sunday through Wednesday.

Dr. Karchemskiy has a special interest in immune-mediated, hepatobiliary, and acute and chronic kidney conditions, and has authored and co-authored multiple publications on topics including immune-mediated disease, extracorporeal therapy, and feline medicine.

Her passion for helping patients through challenging illnesses is personal, too. When her own family’s pets needed specialty care, MedVet was there for them—and the experience inspired her to build her career with us.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Karchemskiy enjoys hiking, swing dancing, baking, and spending time with family.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Karchemskiy to MedVet!

Veterinary medicine asks a lot of the people who choose it. It also gives us countless reasons to keep showing up: the patients, the loving families, the people we work alongside, the victories and the moments that remind us why this work matters.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re taking a moment to recognize the people behind the care and the importance of making space for one another, especially on the harder days.

To every member of the veterinary community: thank you for all that you bring to this profession. And remember, you don’t have to carry the hard days alone. ❤️‍🩹

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Katie Severson as the new Medical Director at MedVet New Orleans.

For Dr. Severson, veterinary medicine is about more than treating a patient. It’s about building trust with the people who care for them, strengthening the human-animal bond, and working together to help pets live healthier lives. She’s excited to partner with pet parents and colleagues to bring that approach to her work at MedVet New Orleans.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Severson enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

We look forward to the expertise she’s bringing to MedVet and the pets we serve.
