Wounds and horses. Arguably the most common example shown here. This wound was a few days old when found. Although very common, remember these can be career ending and even life threatening to the horse.
- Septic Coffin Joint
- Septic Digital Flexor Tendon Sheath
This horse’s wound was cleaned up and examined. Fortunately, neither the sheath or joint was involved. The wound was sutured and she was kept bandaged and observed to make sure it was safe to put the foot cast on. The cast will help this high motion and high tension area heal faster and more cosmetically.

It’s that time of year! New babies and making new babies….its Also:
Castration, Vaccination, Lameness, Joint Injection, Dental, Injury, Coggins and whatever else season I’m forgetting!
Remember the 1, 2, 3 rule:
Foal up by 1 hour
Foal Nursing by 2 hours
Placenta Passed by 3 hours
Also check legs: are they straight or contracted or are joints swollen??? I can go on…but call ASAP with any questions or concerns. Happy Spring🌷
