Finally got my trimmer to show up… It’s me. I’m the trimmer. 🤣 Shimmy was in dire need of a shape up with all of the rocky trails we’ve been riding on. He’s all set for our camping trip now!

Of course I had to take a peak at Shimmy’s hooves when he came up yesterday. I walked the pasture to find the cutest icy hoof prints. I can match all of these prints to each horse! ❄️🐴❤️

The pictures everyone has been waiting for…
Got some good pics of my new Mustang’s feet! He has had 2 abscess blow outs on his front left lateral wall in the last 1-2 months. My guess is trauma (during shipping or being loaded/unloaded several times). He’s been sound, but that bar is driving me nuts! Maybe if we get some rain and he stands in mud it’ll soften and pop out. Oh how I wish I could give him a good trim, but it will be a while before we get there. Enjoy!

I had leftover glue from Shimmy’s shoes and I had Gambler’s size in stock in Performances, so he got shoes on tonight. I trimmed him this morning so it was quick and easy to put these on. EasyCare Performance shoes are the first glue-on shoes I learned to use in my trade. I always cast over these for extra protection. Gambler stayed perfectly still during the glueing process. He loves his glue-on shoes and boots!

Today I glued EasyShoe Speed Metals on Shimmy and it went smoothly!

EasyShoe Speed Metals can be glued and/or nailed on. Since I'm not trained to nail shoes on, I opted for glueing only. I usually glue EasyShoe Versa Grips on Shimmy, so this will be a great shoe to compare with those because the Versa Grip has flexibility and this shoe has significantly less with the metal being in there.

Hoof trim, prep, and glueing took an hour. This would have usually taken me about 30-45 minutes, but I was stopping to take pictures and videos.

I'll be riding Shimmy doing various activities to see how these function compared to the Versa Grips.
