🐾🎾 HAPPY NATIONAL FETCH DAY! 🎾🐾

🍁💨 The leaves are flying, the temperatures are dropping, and that chilly fall wind is reminding us that winter is just around the corner!

Meanwhile, your dog is standing at the door with a tennis ball in their mouth saying, “WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, HUMAN?! LET'S GO!” 😂🐕

Let's face it… WE might be ready for fuzzy blankets, hot cocoa, and a cozy spot on the couch, but our dogs? They're ready for ROUND 47 OF FETCH! 🎾🤣

And guess what? That silly game of throwing a ball (and throwing it again… and again… and AGAIN) actually has some pretty awesome benefits!

🐾 Physical Exercise: Helps burn energy, maintain a healthy weight, and keep those muscles moving!

🧠 Mental Stimulation: Chasing, tracking, and retrieving gives your dog's brain a workout, too!

❤️ Bonding Time: Playing together builds trust and strengthens that special connection between you and your dog.

🎓 Training Opportunities: Fetch is a great way to practice recall, impulse control, "drop it," and "wait!"

😴 A Tired Dog Is a Happy Dog! And let's be honest… a tired dog means a little peace and quiet for YOU, too! 😂

BUT WAIT… WHAT IF YOUR DOG DOESN'T FETCH?! 🤔

You throw the ball… your dog watches it fly… looks back at you… and says, "Well? YOU threw it. YOU go get it!" 🤣🤣

No worries! Not every dog was born to be a retriever!

🐽 Try a sniffing game! Hide treats around the house and let that amazing nose go to work!

🧩 Break out a puzzle toy or snuffle mat for some brain-building fun!

🐕 Take a sniffy walk! Let your dog explore the wonderful world of fall smells at their own pace.

🪢 Play a little tug-of-war! It's a fantastic way to bond, burn energy, and practice good manners!

❤️ The important thing isn't HOW you play… it's that you PLAY TOGETHER!

So grab that ball, bundle up, and get outside for a little fun with your furry best friend! 🍂🎾

Here's a simple way to check!

🐾 You should be able to feel your dog's ribs without pressing too hard, but they shouldn't be sharply sticking out.

🐾 When looking down from above, your dog should have a visible waistline.

🐾 From the side, you should notice a gentle upward tummy tuck behind the rib cage.

Remember, every breed and body type is different! Your veterinarian can help determine your dog's ideal weight and body condition.

🥕 Little Changes Can Make a BIG Difference!

✅ Measure meals instead of guessing portions.

✅ Watch those extra treats! Treat calories count, too!

✅ Keep your dog active with age-appropriate walks, games, and exercise.

✅ Try enrichment activities that stimulate the brain without always involving food.

✅ Work with your veterinarian on a safe weight-management plan if your pup needs to shed a few pounds.

💜 And Remember... Skinny Doesn't Always Mean Healthy, and Chunky Doesn't Always Mean Happy! The goal is a healthy body condition for YOUR individual dog.

Join us Saturday, October 17th at 3:30 PM for our PLACE & STAY Pop-Up Class!

“Place” and “Stay” are so much more than obedience commands. They teach your dog self-control, patience, focus and how to settle when life is happening around them. Think visitors at the door, family dinners, trips to the campground, sporting events, coffee shops—or simply relaxing while you’re trying to get something done!

And THAT is what we love about our D&D Pop-Up Classes. ❤️

These one-hour classes give you the opportunity to focus on one practical skill at a time, learn new techniques, practice around distractions and continue building your communication and relationship with your dog.
