We've been having a really fun week with Celeste. Shes been experiencing a lot of new things and places. Shes met a ton of people and dogs and shes super good with my little girls. Shes doing amazing with her crate training, house training, sit, down, and stay. She even learned how to go up and down stairs! Shes exhausted and so am I, but that means we are doing it right!

Everyone say Hi to Celeste!
My newest Board and Train puppy. She was a singleton pup. Which means she did not have any other littermates. Because of this she is going to require extra training to ensure she learns proper bite inhibition/socialization and confidence. Ive got a week full of experiences scheduled for her to help her learn to be the bravest girl there ever was. ❤️

This photo may seem really insignificant to most but it's symbolic for me. You see the fawn corgi was a student of mine from 12 years ago, her name is Maisy. And I remember working with her like it was yesterday. And here she is with her new baby brother Finn. A full circle moment. Thank you Maisy and Finn for reminding me how lucky I am to do this as long as I have! ❤️ Also, who doesnt love a good corgi butt!

Then we hit the road for **three 30-minute real-world outings** where we’ll practice around the people, dogs, sounds, distractions, and unpredictability of everyday life.

Excuse me, Olli… you’re 7 MONTHS OLD

This handsome guy is a Service Dog in Training, and one of his future jobs is gluten detection.

In this video, you can see Olli alerting to the outside of gluten-free boxes — likely picking up traces of gluten from handling and the store environment. But once the box is opened? No alert.

This week he started checking cooked food and silverware for contamination.He’s also currently working towards his CGC! Hes a busy little man.

Watching these young dogs learn, grow, and become the incredible partners they’re meant to be is one of my favorite parts of what we do. Also, how amazing are dogs?!❤️

This one is extra special to me. ❤️🐾

About 18 months ago, Claire reached out to me and asked how much it would cost to have me fully train a Comfort K9 for the Belmont Fire Department.

My answer was simple: **“I’ll do it for free!”**

I was truly honored to even be asked. Mental health and emotional well-being are so important for everyone, but especially for our first responders who spend their days carrying the weight of some incredibly difficult situations.

Before Riggs had even come home, Claire, Deb, and I sat down together and started talking about what we wanted this dog to become. All the ways he would help the community. We had a plan, a goal, and a whole lot of excitement about the possibilities.

And then Riggs arrived. ❤️

From day one, we got to work. Watching his journey unfold has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of.

We truly worked Riggs through the ranks. He passed his AKC Canine Good Citizen testing through the Advanced level of CGCA, became a certified therapy dog team through Caring Animal Partners, and now officially joined First Responder Therapy Dogs!

And while those accomplishments are amazing, what makes me most proud is **why** he does it.

Riggs continues to serve as the Lakes Region Comfort K9 and is a member of the Lakes Region CISM Team, providing comfort and support to the first responders who need it most.

I couldn’t be more proud of this boy and his handler, and I’m so grateful that I got to be part of the team that helped bring this vision to life.

What started as a conversation before Riggs even came home has turned into something far more amazing than I think any of us could have imagined.

Congratulations, Riggs! Here’s to many more years of making a difference! ❤️

Riggs has had a very busy past 18 months!

Riggs came into my life in April of 2025. At that time, he was the first Comfort K9 in a firehouse. From day one, he came to work with me every day, and we started training right away with Kelly at Doggonit Training.

Since then, Riggs has passed his AKC Canine Good Citizen testing through the Advanced level. This past summer, we continued our training, working toward our goal of becoming a Therapy Dog team.

I am incredibly proud to say that Riggs is not only part of Caring Animal Partners, but this past week he officially became a team member of First Responder Therapy Dogs! ❤️🐾

Through all of this, we have never forgotten our roots. Riggs continues to serve as the Lakes Region Comfort K9 and is also a member of the Lakes Region CISM Team, supporting first responders when they need him most.

This has been a goal of mine that I started working toward before I retired. I just never imagined that I would have a partner like Riggs to help me continue that journey.

I truly couldn't have asked for a better partner or a better group of people to help, guide, and support us along the way. ❤️

A special thank you to Claire Hebert-Dow for presenting me with the idea of adding a dog to my journey — a journey you didn't even know I had.

And thank you to Boonefield Labradors for breeding such amazing Labs and for choosing me to receive Riggs. I will forever be grateful for the gift you gave me. 🐾❤️

New Off leash class starting in September!!

If you’re looking to phase the leash from your life, this class is for you! In Drop the Leash, we will work on building handler engagement, focus, and recall skills in a safe, controlled environment. We will talk about rewards, how to handle distractions, and how to motivate your dog when they can’t feel the physical barrier of the leash impeding their movement. The prerequisite for this class is that the dog must have passed our level 2 class.

Week 1-4 will be taught at Doggonit Training Center and the last week will be taught at Ramblin Vewe Farm in Gilford to utilize their trail system and work the dogs in a real life environment!

Supplies needed: Traffic handle, 20-30 ft Long line, and a 6ft leash

Skills that will be learned:

Emergency stop

Recall past distractions

Heel past distractions

Two person recall

Distance sit and down stays

Recall with multiple dogs

Long distance leave it
