Congratulations to Celine, our "Inventor" Superhero of the Month! As one of our ICU Client Liaisons, she's always helping clients, but you'll also find her solving tech issues, and finding creative ways to make our processes even better.

Celine has been in veterinary medicine for 7 years and has been part of the AVECCC family for 4.5 years. Her favorite part of the job? "Seeing our pet patients feel better after being sick."

Outside of work, she enjoys video games, sleeping, watching TV, and spending time with her two cats—a silly girl and a crazy boy! 🐱🎮

🐾 When is a pet eye an emergency?

Not every eye problem can wait until the morning.

Eye injuries and sudden changes can become very serious very quickly in pets, especially when trauma, infection or risk of vision loss may be involved.

Head to an emergency veterinary hospital if you notice:
~Sudden squinting or keeping their eye closed
~Visible injury or suspected trauma to the eye
~Cloudiness or sudden color change in the eye
~Heavy discharge (especially thick, yellow or green)
~Pawing at the eye or face with pain or distress

If you're ever unsure, it's always safest to have your pet seen. Eye conditions can worsen rapidly without treatment.

Could your pet be dehydrated?

Dehydration can happen quickly, especially during warm weather, exercise, or illness. Pets rely on us to make sure they stay properly hydrated and healthy.

🚨 Signs of dehydration may include:
• Dry or sticky gums
• Sunken eyes
• Excessive panting
• Loss of energy
• Reduced appetite
• Decreased skin elasticity

🐾 Help keep your pet hydrated by:
✅ Providing fresh, clean water at all times
✅ Bringing water on walks and outings
✅ Offering wet food when appropriate
✅ Keeping pets cool and out of excessive heat

If you notice signs of dehydration or your pet seems unwell, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. Early intervention can make a big difference.

Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is one of the most infectious killers of cats worldwide.

FeLV can weaken a cat's immune system, making them more vulnerable to infections, anemia, and certain cancers. The virus is primarily spread through close contact between cats, such as grooming, sharing food and water bowls, or bite wounds.

⚠️ Common signs of FeLV may include:
• Weight loss
• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy or decreased activity
• Pale gums
• Persistent fever
• Recurring infections
• Poor coat condition
• Enlarged lymph nodes

Because many of these symptoms can be subtle at first, regular veterinary checkups and testing are important—especially for kittens, outdoor cats, and newly adopted cats.

The good news? FeLV can be detected through testing, and vaccination is available for cats at risk. Talk with your veterinarian about the best prevention plan for your feline family member. 🩺❤️

🌵☀️ Arizona summer is here, and triple-digit temperatures are no joke! With temps climbing toward 120°F, it's important to take extra precautions to keep your pets safe.

Make sure your pets always have access to fresh water and shade, limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, and check pavement temperatures before walks—if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws. Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.

Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse. If you suspect your pet is overheating, seek veterinary care immediately.
