If your cat is ever suspected to have FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), please know that euthanasia is no longer the only option.

There is now an FDA-authorized treatment available, and many cats are surviving and thriving with proper care. FIP used to be considered a fatal diagnosis, and while not every veterinarian can stay current on every new treatment or advancement in medicine, we want our community to know that there is hope.

At Brookview Animal Wellness, if your cat has been diagnosed with or is suspected to have FIP, we will provide a second opinion consultation at no cost before you make any end-of-life decisions.

We simply want families to know all of their options and help save lives whenever we can.

Please share this with fellow cat lovers, adopters, fosters, and rescue families. ❤️

Pyometra is a life-threatening uterine infection that can develop in unspayed female cats — often suddenly and without much warning.

About 1 in 45 intact female cats will develop pyometra in their lifetime, and when it happens, it becomes an emergency. Treatment usually requires immediate surgery, hospitalization, intensive care, and can cost thousands of dollars.

We often hear:
“She doesn’t go outside.”
“We were going to do it later.”
“We didn’t think it could happen to her.”

But the truth is:
The safest, least expensive, and most loving thing you can do is spay your cat before there’s ever a problem.

Spaying prevents pyometra completely.
No emergency surgery.
No suffering.
No heartbreaking decisions.

Don’t wait for an emergency to learn why prevention matters.

Congrats.

Lola and her sweet mom, Kaitlyn have fallen on hard times.
Lola found herself in a scary situation - a uterine infection (pyometra) which requires emergency surgery.
The cost she was quoted was far beyond her means so the ER thankfully referred her to us.
Lola had surgery and is recovering well. The total cost is $742 but Lola's mom only has $350. We will allow a payment plan but would like to help Kaitlyn out so she can focus on Lola's recovery and finding stable housing.
If you can support Lola and Kaitlyn, they would both appreciate it.
Donations can be made by calling in a payment (602.715.2401) or via Zelle ([email protected]).
We will update you all when we see Lola at her recheck.

When your child is sick, you don’t wait.
Why would we do that with our pets?

They can’t tell us what hurts. They can’t explain how bad it feels. They rely on us to notice—and act.

The “wait and see” approach often just means prolonged discomfort… and sometimes real suffering.

We get it—times are tough. That’s why affordable care matters. In many cases, getting your pet seen is far less than you expect (often less than a car payment).

Don’t wait. Not a day.
Call on day one. Schedule the appointment.

Best case? They improve and you cancel.
Worst case? You caught something early—and made all the difference.

ER and urgent care are vital—but they shouldn’t be the result of waiting too long.

Your pet depends on you. 🐾

When we opened Brookview Animal Wellness, we spent a lot of time talking about what kind of veterinary hospital we wanted to be.

Not just medically—but emotionally.

What did we want pet parents to *feel* when they came to us?

What message did we want to repeat over and over again?

And honestly, if we had one motto for pet parents, it would simply be:

**“Don’t wait.”**

Not because every symptom is an emergency.
Not because every pet needs extensive treatment.

But because we have seen, time and time again, that early action changes outcomes.

We have seen pets get relief faster.
We have seen problems stay small instead of becoming big.
We have seen families avoid unnecessary stress, panic, and cost simply because they called sooner.

Pets cannot tell us how they feel.
They cannot explain pain, nausea, discomfort, or fear.
By the time many pets “look sick,” they have often been trying to push through it for days.

And unlike us, they cannot:
• take medicine from the cabinet
• drink electrolytes
• make themselves toast when their stomach hurts
• tell someone they need help

They rely on us to notice when something is wrong.

Over the next several weeks, we want to share a series called:

**“Don’t Wait.”**

We’ll talk about:
• why early exams matter
• when diarrhea shouldn’t be ignored
• why swallowing objects is so dangerous
• how waiting often increases costs
• and why it’s okay to discuss financial limits with your veterinary team

Our goal is not to scare anyone.

Our goal is to help pet parents feel informed, prepared, and empowered to act sooner—because sometimes even one extra day matters.
