Update: Daisy made it thru his surgery including spelenectomy, intestinal biopsies and foreign body removal. We will wait for word from the pathologist over the next week. Please continue to donate. We reduced the invoice as much as was feasible. Thank you for your contributions thus far. We will keep you updated on Daisy's healing.

Daisy Needs Your Help!
Daisy's mom knew something was wrong. Straight to Vet Med in Phoenix, the problem (or at least one of them) became clear. Daisy had a pipe cleaner he had swallowed and wasn't going to come out all on its own. He now requires emergency surgery.
Darlene's bill is already at $6k+ at the er vet with emergency surgery today with us. Darlene is on SSI so her funds are very limited, but she still works helping her senior neighbors with yardwork and caring for community cats.
Daisy loves Darlene. Darlene loves Daisy. We are asking our supporters to consider donating towards Daisy's care.

When did veterinary medicine become a car sales experience?

*Gold standard of care.* *Wellness plans* *Easy monthly payments*

My favorite class at ASU was Services Marketing with Dr. Amy Ostrom. What stuck with me for more than 20 years was simple: understand your client's needs, make sure expectations and reality align, and under-promise while over-delivering.

At my core, I want to help people and pets. That doesn't mean convincing someone to buy every test, treatment or service available. It means finding the care that makes sense for that pet, that situation and that family.

BVA doesn't offer wellness plans. We're affordable because care should be accessible.

Of course we'd all love to do every diagnostic test possible. But good medicine isn't about doing everything possible. Sometimes it's about doing what's necessary, taking it one step at a time, and making a plan the client can actually afford.

Because I worry about the animals we've lost because their owners were made to believe that being a good pet parent meant spending money they didn't have.

That isn't better medicine. It's a broken system. I don't want to sell you veterinary care. I want to help you—and your pet—when we're the right match.

There can absolutely be legitimate differences between surgical estimates. But a bigger price tag, a wellness plan, or six easy monthly payments doesn't automatically mean you're receiving better medicine.

We aren't trying to make veterinary medicine cheap.

Wouldn’t pet care be easier if our pets could just tell us what was wrong? Unfortunately, they can’t.

They can’t tell us, “My stomach hurts,” “I’m nauseous,” or “Something just doesn’t feel right.”

Instead, they communicate through changes in behavior and clinical signs—eating less, vomiting, hiding, limping, sleeping more, drinking differently, or simply not acting like themselves.

And those signs don’t always tell us what is wrong. That’s where veterinary care comes in.

The good news? You don’t have to wait until your pet is really sick. Early attention can mean simpler care, better outcomes, and often a much more manageable veterinary bill.

Your pet gets the care they need. You get peace of mind.
And maybe, if everyone is feeling better, you can celebrate with a pup cup. 🐾❤️

Early care is a win for both of you.
