Saturday and Sunday, Aug 1 & 2 we are hosting Try-Its for AKC nosework and a drop-in 30 container search for dogs already on AKC odor/odors. ☀️Looking for something cool to do this weekend during our first heatwave of the summer? Come play with us at BDU!☀️

We have some openings still available Friday, Saturday and Sunday and plenty of room in open dock / group practice Sunday morning! 🌊☀️

This weekend, seasoned competitors can rent the 60’ pool and Max is available to coach new swimmers in our 40’ pool. Bring your sunscreen & your pups’ favorite toy and come play!

Brown Dog University’s first trial of the 2026 season is May 8-10! Pre-registration is OPEN until 9:59 PM (PST) tomorrow, April 30.

Why pre-register?

💥 Splashes are $25.00 ahead of time and go up to $30.00 for day of entries. Save that $5.00/splash for your gas tank!

💥 Day of Entries are limited. Guarantee your splashes by registering ahead of time!

Did you know we offer group practice / open dock time twice a week during the season?

✨Open Dock is for dogs who are already confidently jumping off the dock and swimming for their toy, and is a great way to practice your skills in between events!

✨Open Dock practice starts next Wednesday, April 8!

✨Practice times are Wednesdays 5:30-7:00 pm and Sundays 9:30 - 11:00 am.

✨The 40’ pool will be available for Hydrodash practice and we will have Air Retrieve practice the first week of the month!

✨There is no instruction available during Open Dock but BDU staff will be onsite to monitor.

✨Sign up on our website! This year we have dropped the price to $20.00.

✨No April fools here, folks! The big pool opens this Friday! ✨

The 60’ pool will open Friday, April 3rd! Scheduling is open now for pool rentals for practicing. With a great spring-like weather forecast ahead, lessons are also now open for experienced teams. The water is COLD! The dogs that live at BDU are tolerating about a 20 minute dock session before starting to shiver.

New dogs should wait until we warm up to about 60 degrees for best success. The 2026 season is finally HERE!

🌡️ Current Pool Temperatures (as of 3/4/2026)
60ft pool 52° (3/31/2025) - Opens April 3rd!!
40ft pool 48° (3/31/2025) - NOW CLOSED
Puget Sound (NOAA surface temperature, 3/31/2026): 49°F
How Water Temperatures Affect Operations at BDU
50°F - The pools open for the season (WE ARE HERE!!!)
55°F - Lessons for dogs already jumping off the dock begin.
60°F - Swimming and intro to dock diving lessons begin typically in May. This includes dogs needing an instructor in the water to assist with new or dogs still needing assistance off the dock.
