Feisty Felines is run by three women who both work our 'real' jobs during the day, try to balance personal lives, work lives and in our FREE time we VOLUNTEER to do rescue efforts. This poor guy got in a tussle with something. He’s got a huge gash from his mouth to behind his ear and tons of scratches on his face. (Raccoon maybe?)

The feeder first wanted him back, so we fixed him with an ear tip, and then she said if I could find him a home that we could.

Considering this cat is clearly not an outdoor cat and is clearly a house cat who doesn’t know how to survive outside, we are keeping him.

I wish he didn’t have an ear tip but it gives him some character I guess.

Is it bad if I call him Joker? 🫣 edit: probably 🥴 so I have been thinking more subtle like Heath (Ledger) or Joaquin (Phoenix) who played Joker. He’s a little love. Wants nothing but to be on your lap sprawled out. And I searched and in DC, Joker’s true identity is Jack Oswald White. So maybe Jack.

We have sooo many friendly cats that need help but we are FULL. I will provide everything and help you get set up but you MUST have transportation if things are needed in an emergency.

Cats needing help/new placement right now:

- Alvin (see earlier post)
- Super friendly orange guy who is fixed and has a wound on his face but we will have to put him back outside 😢
- friendly 1.5 year old tabby boy being returned because he isn’t happy in his current environment
- kittens with mom and dad
- plus more!

Everyday we are asked to help and we have to turn them away because we are so full. 💔

I want to introduce a special kitty to you all. Everyone, meet Alvin!

Alvin was one of our kitties who got adopted by a family who returned him after two years because their family dynamics weren’t working for him, they had a young child with special needs and it was just the wrong environment for everyone, but definitely not his fault. After waiting in foster for a few months he was adopted again a year ago to a home we hoped would be his forever place. Unfortunately his owner has health issues and needs to return him again. 😔

This gorgeous man has been through so much. He is about three years old. Is anyone looking for a sweet little companion? He is cat friendly, a little shy at first so dogs are unknown. He would be okay with kiddos but he isn’t a fan of loud noises.

Here is what his second owner said about him, he is on an anti anxiety medication but I believe in the right place he wouldn’t need it. ❤️‍🩹

“He’s a very sweet kitty. He is very talkative and fairly active. He follows me around the house and loves getting pet. He lets his belly be pet and he loves to bury his face in my hands while he purrs. He can be needy and really wants a cat friend to play with. He is happiest when hanging out with my grumpy 14 year old cat but often wants to play or cuddle so I think a friendly cat under 10 would make him extremely happy. He cuddles against me or my husband at night and has since the day we brought him home. Though he seems generally uncomfortable with my husband and never warmed up to him. He would often run under the bed and avoid him. I’m not sure if it’s because he generally didn’t interact with men prior or because my husband gives him his daily dose of transdermal fluoxetine. He takes it because he would meow often for long periods of time for extra food or just because. He had a vet check-up and was found to be in perfect health. He also enjoys feather toys, running, and looking outside to watch birds. He probably would not be comfortable as an outside cat because he is easily startled and can often run on instinct. He has always been very patient and gentle and has never bitten or scratched any of us. He can also be brushed easily if given a churu at the same time.”

If you’ve read this far I would POSSIBLY consider a foster to adopt situation IF it was the right home AND it was in the Gig Harbor/Tacoma area. (This is Kristin not Misti, so please ask for me in any messages).

Our trapper Celeste has been working on the “broken leg” cat site - which we have not been able to catch him but now believe it to have been an abscess as he appears to be improving (still on our plan to get him though).

We fixed 6 of the cats there on Saturday and one mom was lactating. One of her babies was found so cold and sadly had to be euthanized 💔 and this (perhaps a sibling) was found and is doing well. Isn’t she a beauty?! I’m so sad for her brother and the homeowner is keeping an eye out for more babies.

ANOTHER NO GUARANTEES CHANCE

We have up to 3 surgery spots for tomorrow. I would need the cats tonight. I’m located in the grand mound area.

We are trapping so I will not know for sure how many spots until after 7pm (and would prefer cats by 8pm or so).

It would be $75 to fix/chip. Vaccines can be added for $10 each. Flea treatment is $5. Praziquantel is $5.

Here is the priority:

Pregnant cats and injured community cats that you can put in a carrier or can make a plan with me to trap asap

Cats in reproductive ages (older than 4m)

Kittens under 4m

Meet Walter

This handsome boy is a rescue who is about 5 yrs old and a whopping 17+lbs. he’s a sweet boy who has excellent muffin making abilities and loves to be brushed. However, he does become overstimulated. He needs a home with cat savvy people who can watch his very clear signs (tail flopping) and give him space when he’s not in the mood for pets.

When he is in the mood he is a velcro lover-boy. The finder/person who rescued him says, “I'm in this small trailer and he has to follow me around in here and stay close at all times, very velcro. He sleeps most of the day and is up most the night. Eats every 6 hours or so. Still very playful, but needs something to do while you sleep or access to outside, maybe just a bigger home for more options or a catio because he will try to dig his way out. Wants to come in and out all night, not for the streets or for staying out all night, but demands access/options.”

He loves chasing a laser and the fishing rod toy, and loves the donut cave. He loves temptations and friskies party mix. Picky on canned food but we've narrowed down the ones he likes best and he will come with a small supply of everything he likes. Needs a very large litter box as he is very large.

Walter was fixed as a community cat (ear tip) but the finder chose not to release him. He was vaccinated during surgery and microchipped.

He (at this time) appears to possibly need to be an only pet. He glares at the dog and hisses and fights the other cats however, they’re all living in a small RV so possibly with a home where there’s more space and proper acclimation, he may be ok.

Surgery spots are full. We took in 2 community cats and one pet from the public.

We are trapping for ferals today. Right now we are sitting at 7 of 10 cats.

I have 3 surgery spots for STAND BY.

If you have a pregnant female that you need to fix, comment below. It likely will not be until evening (maybe 7-8pm) that we close traps.

Yesterday we saw a post in chat with fellow rescue friends where someone had contacted them about a cat with “rotting” stuff coming out of her privates. 💔

She had miscarried (days ago) is what we had been told.

She was weak. Not eating. Even an emergency spay could kill her but it was also the only thing that could save her life.

We had already contacted Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project while we were trying to get the broken leg cat (which tragically hasn’t been seen 💔) and they gave us 2 surgery spots, so I told my rescue friends to have her reach out asap.

Nine Lives & More Rescue needed to spay a pregnant cat as did Whiskers Hope Rescue so they were making a trip anyways and this kitty got to tag along.

We are so thankful for all three of those organizations who played a role in helping save her life today.

The owner/caretaker is going to keep her inside for at least a week. And I talked to her about the importance of spay and neuter. After all, she has two others who have delivered babies already. 😕 And this cat is apparently generation two of three generations there.

Mello should make a full recovery with an antibiotic shot onboard and lead a much healthier life not popping babies out or miscarrying or getting pyometra. 🙏
