We took this young lady in yesterday that police took to Blue Pearl in Kirkland. They had found her on the side of the road. 💔 the injury though does not look new. We don’t really have room but Kristin (and Ed) are squeezing one more cat into the prison program. Roslyn, our medical foster with 20+ years of vet med, and Kristin (and Ed and Fosters) will take good care of her in the prison. ❤️‍🩹

She will need to be in a kennel to see if she can heal enough that she may have a decent quality of life with this kind of spinal injury. Time will tell how she progresses and we will follow up with care as needed.

She can use the bathroom by herself so that is good, though apparently 💩 may have a tendency to get on her backside because of the inability to squat like a cat normally does when going 💩.

Assuming we can get him contained, does anyone want to help us get a cat from Rochester to Astoria OR Friday for amputation? We will give $80 for gas. He has to be there between 8-9am (so leaving between 6-7am) and pickup is usually 3:30 or so and back to Rochester.

Meet Triscuit, a beautiful tuxedo! She is a teenager who loves crunchy treats and playing with toys. Triscuit is growing into a very sweet, loving lady. She is used to living with other cats but she’s mainly interested in sleeping by your side all day or watching the birds outside from the windowsill. We are looking for a special home for this trio! Preferably a home with no other cats who is ready for bundles of love!

During their time in foster Beatrice, Elsje, and Kyle were diagnosed with a regressive FeLV infection. FeLV is an infection that affects a cat's immune system and often gives them a shortened lifespan. Thankfully, they have regressive FeLV which means their bodies have fought off the infection enough to make the virus go dormant. Many cats with regressive FeLV live happy and healthy lives with normal lifespans. While they are not currently contagious to other cats, they could potentially become contagious in the future if their FeLV were to become progressive. Beatrice, Elsje, and Kyle are looking for a home that will be proactive with their health and keep them up to date on their vaccines since illness and stress can be a potential trigger for the virus to progress. If you are interested in this sweet trio, their foster parents would be happy to discuss their diagnosis in more detail!

About 30-40% of cats have a partially effective immune response following exposure to the virus and develop a regressive infection. In these infections, the virus is incorporated into the cat’s genome, but the immune system prevents prolonged viral replication, so there are no viral particles present in the cat’s blood after the initial infection. While a cat has a regressive infection, it cannot actively infect other cats with the disease, and it is very unlikely to experience clinical signs from FeLV. However, it is possible for the virus to reactivate and start replicating again, especially if the cat becomes immunosuppressed through illness or medications. When this happens, the cat is again infectious to other cats and at risk of developing clinical illness.

We have an amazing adoption rate sale going on now and we have spent all of the money up front!
These kits have been fixed, microchipped, vaccinated with FVRCP vaccines, combo tested which led us to felv PCR testing and also regressive add on testing. They can get rabies vaccines but other than that, they’re all set!

They can live happy, negative healthy lives. Help us by sharing this post so we can find a home willing to open their hearts to these babies. ❤️

We can use some help!! (Updated)

We finally were able to get some dentals booked for cats and they’re during the week. We have some drivers for olympia to Vancouver for the dentals but could use help getting cats from either gig harbor or Tacoma to olympia in mornings and evenings.

We have at least one volunteer who is willing to stay the night in Vancouver as their cousin lives nearby and we will work to find another - even if
We need to rent a hotel for someone.

9/30 olympia roughly 6-7pm to gig harbor in the evening

If you don’t have the right size, go buy one, borrow one or wait until the next run: Sept 27 (which I will be fixing 25 ferals and be low on carriers so really, please just follow the rules-there’s literally a picture with measurements).

Do yall remember the solo baby that we thought we may need a babysitter for next week?

Turns out he has a huge cleft palette and has been unable to drink through a bottle because it immediately comes out his nose. 💔

I have to commend two fosters who didn’t want to think of euthanasia. Patty Russman and Sandra Wing Together these ladies changed the course of this baby’s life.

Sandy tube fed for near 3w. Patty researched and found a rescue in California who has experience with cleft palette babies and THEN Sandy and Gigi drove 10+ hours ONE way to deliver the baby to techs4clefts Veterinary Technicians for Cleft Affected Animals.

Thank you to Courtney for taking this baby in and giving him every chance to live. Courtney and her crew specialize in unfortunate kitties and cleft palette being one of those things.

Baby was delivered today and Courtney was impressed how healthy and lively Sandy had kept him. Nice job Sandy! Nice job to all. ❤️🙏

Who’s ready for Sea Hawk… 🏈

No silly. Not football! This cute little kitten could become your football watching buddy though!

His sister has an approved application and it will leave him as the last kitten. Help us find him a good home by sharing!

Sea Hawk is a sweet and sensitive little brown tabby with the kindest eyes and a big heart to match. Sea Hawk doesn't jump right into relationships, he likes to take things slow and make sure that you have the right vibes. He's a bit of a skeptic and wants to be certain you are one of his people before committing his heart to you. Bring out his favorite treats and a feather toy though, and he warms right up! After having a delicious snack and leaping after some toys, he will settle down for a big nap. Give this sleepy boy's tummy a scritch and you will unlock his heart and hear his big purrs. Before you know it, you will be his favorite person in the world!
