Well it was quite a road trip!! 7 dogs and a 24foot RV ! Drove down to Texas where Pacer, Epi, Stolee, Addy and Bear will stay for a few months until the house sells. Keeper and Tele just went down and back for the ride!!!! We left on Saturday got there on Monday and then I somehow lacked total track of time and left on Tuesday to return to Washington!!!! I had planned on spending a few days there but I thought it was time to leave!!! I got back on Thursday and realized I arrived 3 days earlier than originally planned!!!!!
lol I have too much on my mind and can’t afford to start losing it now!!!!!
Other than that, the trip went fine and Keeper is glad to be done traveling- Tele is due at the end of the month and she is just happy being!
Now the real work begins to finish up the house to get it on the market!!!!

Looking for a new home for Bear aka Col Mustard from the Clue litter. He is 10 months old, has had some obedience but still needs work with walking, recall, and socialization. Up to date with all veterinary needs. House broken, barks to go outside, barks to come in! Loves to swim, camp, and fetch with that favorite tennis ball! 🎾 Great with kids and is extremely comfortable in his crate. This is a field golden! Which means high energy that never ends! He is NOT a couch buddy and will only be considered for approved homes. I want a forever home and not a home that will try and see.

This was the best weekend that I have had for a long time!!! Decided Friday night to take Addy to the Newaukum River Retriever Clubs hunt test just for the heck of it. Turned out to be great medicine!!! The club put on a great weekend and the judges, Boyd Ulsh, Tom Dresser on Saturday and Lavena Chapman and Carey McCarroll on Sunday were awesome! A lot of people experiencing their first time test made it uplifting and fun!
2 passes under our belts, Addy did a great job! Colin, Cascade Retrievers- you would be proud of what she remembered from your training!!!

Golden Retrievers and water go together like sunshine and summer. But not every pond, lake or slow-moving stream is safe. 🌿⚠️

Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) can be extremely dangerous, and even a quick swim or drink can lead to serious illness.

Before your next adventure:

✅ Check the water for green scum, mats, or discoloration
✅ Keep your Golden from drinking questionable water
✅ Rinse them off after swimming
✅ When in doubt, choose another spot to splash! 🏖️

Hot weather can be challenging for dogs, especially during periods of high temperatures. Knowing the safest ways to cool your dog can help improve comfort and reduce the risk of heat-related problems.

💚 Focus on the Chest Area
Applying cool (not cold) water to the chest can help your dog release body heat more effectively and stay comfortable.

🌿 Cool the Belly
The belly has less fur and is one of the best areas for gentle cooling during warm weather.

🐾 Pay Attention to the Paws
Allowing your dog to stand on cool surfaces or gently cooling the paws can help regulate body temperature.

🚫 Avoid Direct Sun Exposure
The head and upper body can quickly absorb heat when exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods.

🔥 Protect Against Hot Surfaces

GROWING PUPPIES NEED MOVEMENT, NOT MARATHONS 🐾

One of the most common mistakes we see with growing puppies comes from a good place…

People want to give them plenty of exercise.

The problem is that more exercise is not always better exercise.

Large breed puppies have growth plates that remain open much longer than most people realize. During this stage, their bones, joints, and soft tissues are still developing, making them more vulnerable to injury from excessive repetitive impact.

What we LOVE to see:
✔ Free play
✔ Exploring new environments
✔ Swimming
✔ Natural movement
✔ Confidence-building adventures

What we try to avoid in growing puppies:
⚠ Forced running
⚠ Long-distance jogging
⚠ Repetitive jumping
⚠ Excessive retrieves
⚠ Repetitive stair climbing

One thing that makes retrievers unique is that many of them will continue working long after they should stop. They love retrieving, running, swimming, and being part of the action. It becomes our responsibility to know their limits while they’re still growing.

Research consistently shows that maintaining a healthy body weight during growth can significantly reduce orthopedic stress and help support long-term joint health.

The goal isn’t to keep puppies inactive.

The goal is to provide the RIGHT kind of activity at the RIGHT stage of development.

Move them.
Don’t overdo them.
