Brag post of my favorite welsh mare!

While she is still fully committed to her opinions and makes known her daily desires, we are starting to really come together as a team. I think she secretly likes the attention being all about her at the shows. I took her to 3 World Equestrian Center Schooling shows this summer and with each outing she improved! Out of 10 jumper classes in the .65 and .75 jumpers, she placed top 4 or higher in 8 of them! With most classes with over 50 competitors and many very seasoned sport horses. Was she perfect? No. Was I perfect? Also no. But the progress is a win!

First summer of showing in the books for my little power house! I have big goals for her future. Can’t wait to keep working towards them!

Mustang Prin’s first trail ride! This was her 12th ride ever and just look what a natural she is on the trail! She was relaxed and so happy on the trail. She wasn’t the easiest to win over in the beginning. She even took out a stall a week into gentling her and would climb the rails if too much pressure was added. It’s so rewarding and inspiring to see these once wild horses transform into loving and willing partners.

Train mustangs they say, it will be fun they say.

Not every horse follows the same beautiful progression in their training no matter how well you prepare them on the ground and that’s ok. Prince Hairy has had a more challenging time understanding the concept of riding. He’s very sweet but just gets very emotional when asked new things. I wanted to share a little piece of the not so pretty stuff. All I’m asking him to do is canter a few strides without bucking. When he gets emotional, I don’t get frustrated or angry with him. I’m staying calm and reset and re-ask. As soon as he gave me just one nice canter each way I release all the pressure by lengthening the reins, petting him, and dismounting. The next ride the goal is maybe just 5 min of bucking rather than 10 lol! Taking baby wins is the win! It’s easy to forget that when social media just shows the finished product and often the easy horses that excel at training from the get go. Everyone goes their own pace and it’s my job as their trainer and advocate to find that pace and just push enough to make progress. You pay me so you don’t have to ride the bucks 😉

Finally a nice enough day to get the horses out of the arena!

What a fun birthday ride with Sarah! We took Tucker on his first trail ride and he was just amazing as always! Abby rode Titus for me. He is with me for conditioning to strengthen his top line and stifles. He feels stronger everyday! And of course Sarah and her adorable mare, Maggie (just her 3rd trail ride!). The trails were a bit rough after the storms but everyone handled it so well.
