“Wellspring” - 2003 KWPN Broodmare available, Granddaughter of Nimmerdor. Dark bay mare, approx. 16.1h. Sensible and easy to handle. Showed classic signs of impending birth, with easy uncomplicated delivery, and an excellent mother to a fast growing large foal. 2019 Contango foal (frozen semen) on site.
Wellspring, as a foal, was awarded a rare First Premium rating by the KWPN. She was also Top 5 USDF DSHB HOY for Fillies of 2003 with a median score of 76.150% (Sporthorse judge Hilda Gurney named her Grand Champion Filly with a score of 79.4%). Under saddle Wellspring was successfully shown in Dressage earning a Top 10 USDF HOY KWPN ranking at Training level in 2009 (with scores as high as 73.214%).
Wellspring’s sire was Wellington “keur”, by Nimmerdor (“Stallion of the Century”). Wellington competed internationally in Jumping and advanced Dressage, and was a World- ranked leading sire of international competitors in both disciplines. He earned 9 ratings for his trainability, manners, and temperament. Interestingly, at his early KWPN stallion inspection he also earned a 9 in Driving.
Wellspring’s dam, Ol Lady Express, was a KWPN approved Thoroughbred mare of the Nearco, Man o’ War, Native Dancer lineage. She was presented at the KWPN keuring inspection in 1997, the last year the KWPN inspected TBs. Lady was awarded a very rare First Premium rating by none other than the legendary KWPN breed inspector, Gert van der Veen.
