The Fourth of July is one of the busiest times of the year for lost pets. Loud fireworks, bright flashes, and unfamiliar noises can cause even the calmest pets to become frightened and run away.
Help keep your furry family members safe by taking a few simple precautions:
✅ Keep pets indoors before fireworks begin and make sure doors, gates, and windows are secure.
✅ Create a safe space inside your home. Close curtains and use a TV, radio, or white noise to help mask the sound of fireworks.
✅ Check identification. Make sure your pet is wearing a collar with current ID tags and that their microchip information is up to date.
✅ Consider calming aids. Anxiety wraps, pheromone diffusers, or veterinarian-recommended calming techniques may help reduce stress.
✅ Plan ahead. Exercise your pet earlier in the day and provide plenty of activities to help them stay relaxed before evening festivities begin.
