Current status of the Billy Ray Ritchie Memorial Car Show fundraiser:

We somehow became involved in a car show sponsored by porta potties and honestly that feels very Brown County Humane Society coded.

$10 entry fee.
Dash plaques.
Door prizes.
Free porta potties for churches.
A dog named Ebony.
A Camaro.
And somehow it all makes perfect sense.

June 13th in Aberdeen. Come look at cool cars and support the shelter. We’ve officially entered the “fundraisers we never saw coming” era.

Thank you Oar!

This really crazy graphic shows what 491 cats looks like.

Why are we hurting your eyes with an optical illusion style representation of 491 cats?

Because that's the number of *female* cats that have come to our clinic for TNR services so far this year. Each little cat face on this graphic represents a free-roaming outdoor cat that, without TNR, would have likely given birth to kittens outdoors, adding an incomprehensible number of new lives to the already exploding feline population in our communities.

And while that is incredible, this image also represents 491 lives that were improved through veterinary care—including lifesaving vaccinations and flea treatment and prevention.

We are so grateful that we get to do this important work, and it is all because of you. Whether you're a trapper, feed community cats, a donor, or a part of our hard working staff and volunteer teams—you're saving lives every day!

A volunteer took Sasha on a doggie day trip and this dog moved through Brown County like a recently divorced aunt with a shopping problem and absolutely nowhere she needed to be.

Tractor Supply? Loved it.
Climbed into a side-by-side uninvited like she was picking out farm equipment after a good corn year.
Made several new friends.
Spent a suspicious amount of time in the chew aisle “just browsing.”

Then they took her to a coffee shop where she sat on the couch smiling at strangers like she had been going there for years.

And then she came back to the shelter.

Sasha is 4 years old and somehow has all the cool parts of a Malinois without being one of those full-blown maligators that needs 12 enrichment puzzles and a government assignment before breakfast.

She’s smart, social, rides great in the car, and likes being included in whatever’s going on.

We genuinely cannot believe she is still here.

Major has settled into foster care like somebody’s unemployed uncle that “just needed a place for a couple days” and now has a spot on the couch and opinions about the neighborhood.

This dog is EASY.

Takes a little walk. Watches the neighbors. Comes back inside. Calls it a day.

When he needs to go outside he just stands by the door staring at people til somebody gets up. No barking. No drama. Just quiet emotional pressure.

His foster said he’s completely housebroken and one of the most low-key dogs they’ve had in the house. He loves people, is good with cats, and would really rather not deal with other dogs if he can help it.

There’s also a video of him slowly sliding off the couch that looks like every dad in Brown County after eating two pulled pork sandwiches at a graduation party.

Major is about 4 years old, 35 lbs, and fully vetted.
