🐱❤️ The Cats Behind the Scrubs: Staff Adoption Stories ❤️🐱

June is National Adopt a Cat Month, and we're introducing some of the adopted cats who have stolen the hearts of our CKVC team members!

Just one look at this adorable photo, and it's easy to see that Rachel has found her cat. 🧡 Meet Sweetpea, the feline companion of Rachel, one of our Customer Service Representatives and one of the first friendly faces you'll see when you walk through our doors.

Sweetpea was adopted from the Scott County Humane Society in 2025, and Rachel says Sweetpea is just like her namesake—one of the sweetest little cats you'll ever meet.

💭 If your cat had a résumé, what would their favorite hobby be? Tell us in the comments below! 👇

Sweetpea's would include fetching hairbands and interior decorating (specifically bathroom rugs). 😸

💜 Today we're wishing a very happy birthday to Dr. Armstrong! 🎂

Since joining our team in 2022, Dr. Armstrong has become an important part of the CKVC family, combining compassion, dedication, and a genuine love for what she does. Some of Dr. Armstrong's favorite areas of veterinary medicine include emergency medicine and feline care. While our patients are usually of the canine and feline variety, she also has a soft spot for exotic pets. 🩺🐱🦎

Veterinary medicine is constantly evolving, and Dr. Armstrong is always eager to continue learning and growing. She even serves as co-chair of the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association's Power of 10 Program, helping support and mentor the next generation of veterinarians. ✨

Dr. Armstrong is also passionate about client education. She takes the time to make sure pet owners understand exactly what is going on with their pets and believes that clients should have the information they need to make informed decisions about their pet's care.

She also has a way of quietly showing up for those around her. Whether it's making sure everyone has a place to gather during the holidays or supporting a coworker behind the scenes, her thoughtfulness and generosity do not go unnoticed. 💜

Outside of CKVC, Dr. Armstrong enjoys spending time with her three cats—Gemma, Pippa, and her newest addition, Edith. 🐾🐱 She also loves reading, traveling, and listening to podcasts. 📚✈️🎧

We hope you have the happiest birthday, Dr. Armstrong! 🥳🎉

Vomiting in cats is common, but that does not always mean it is normal. While occasional hairballs may not be concerning, frequent vomiting can signal underlying issues such as dietary intolerance, parasites, kidney disease, or gastrointestinal disorders. This blog reviews common causes of feline vomiting and explains when it is time to schedule a veterinary evaluation.

Is Your Cat's Vomiting Normal or a Sign of Something Bigger? You step out of bed on a quiet morning and immediately feel it: that cold, squishy spot on the carpet. If you are a cat owner, you have been there. Occasional vomiting is something most cat parents learn to live with, but how do you

🐾 Recovery Tails: Meet Lizzy 🐾

Rehabilitation is about more than recovery—it's about helping patients get back to the life they love. Lizzy's journey is a perfect example.

Lizzy is an 8-year-old Irish Setter with a sweet spirit, gentle heart, and a personality that quickly won over our entire team. ❤️

Her journey began after she took a tumble down the stairs at home and started carrying her left rear leg. What initially seemed like an injury became something more complicated. As time went on, the pain persisted, and the muscles in her leg weakened significantly from lack of use.

What we discovered was something many pet owners don't often associate with Lyme disease: significant pain and mobility challenges. In Lizzy's case, a Lyme disease flare-up made recovery even more difficult.

Because of the severity of her condition, Lizzy stayed with us for several days while we developed a treatment and rehabilitation plan tailored to her needs. During her stay, Lizzy quickly became a favorite among our staff. Between her sweet disposition and her enthusiastic tail wags, she had everyone rooting for her recovery. 🐕💕

For Lizzy, rehabilitation became an important part of her recovery—helping her rebuild strength, improve mobility, and regain confidence in using her leg again. 💪

Follow along this month as we share more of Lizzy's story and the role rehabilitation played in helping her regain strength and mobility.

Does your pet panic, vocalize, or become destructive when you leave the house? Separation anxiety is a common behavioral condition that can significantly affect a pet’s quality of life. This blog explains the warning signs, underlying causes, and effective management strategies, including behavior modification, environmental enrichment, and when medical support may be appropriate.

Does Your Pet Struggle Every Time You Leave the House? You come home to find a shredded couch cushion, a puddle by the front door, or scratch marks along the doorframe. Maybe a neighbor has mentioned that your dog barks nonstop while you are at work. Or perhaps your cat has started hiding and refusi...
