The dog who hesitates at stairs he used to take in one leap. The cat who quietly stops grooming her back. Pets hide pain instinctively, so small changes are often the first clue something hurts. Our latest post walks through the signs to watch for and when it's time for an exam.

You can usually tell your pet is in pain by the small changes you notice first: the dog who hesitates at stairs he used to take in one leap, or the cat who quietly stops grooming her lower back. Pets instinctively hide discomfort, a survival habit inherited from their wild ancestors, so by the time

🚨 Labor Day Reminder! 🚨

Just a quick reminder that Central Kentucky Veterinary Center will be closed Monday, September 7th for Labor Day. 🇺🇸 Our team will be taking the day to relax, recharge, and enjoy some well-deserved time with family and friends. ❤️

We’ll be back to our regular hours on Tuesday, September 8th! 🐾

🐶🐱 Need food or medication? Please take a moment to check your pet’s supply and request any refills before the holiday weekend. We have one pharmacy technician who fills all medications, and medications for patients currently being treated in the clinic are prioritized. Refill requests received by phone, email, or text may take 24–48 hours to process, so please plan ahead!

A little planning now can help keep your holiday weekend stress-free for you and your pets. 🐾❤️

Plaque hardens into tartar in a matter of days, and the real trouble starts under the gumline where you cannot see it. A pet who chews on one side or drops kibble mid-meal may be telling you something. Our latest post walks through the early signs of dental disease and what good care looks like.

Routine dental care matters because dental disease is common, progressive, and quietly damaging, and staying ahead of it is far easier on your pet than repairing the damage later. It starts quietly: soft plaque hardens into tartar within days, bacteria slip beneath the gums, and the bone holding eac...

🐱 Whatever makes your cat comfortable. 💜

Every cat has their own idea of what makes them feel safe and secure. Some prefer a cozy bed, some love a little hiding spot, and others are perfectly happy sitting in a window and watching the world go by. 🐾

At CKVC, we know that one size doesn’t fit all—especially when it comes to cats! We want our feline patients to feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible while they’re in our care.

That's why we’re proud to be a Cat Friendly Practice. 💜 We have a cat-friendly exam room designed specifically for our feline patients, as well as a separate area in the back of the hospital just for our kitty patients. These spaces help give cats a quieter, more comfortable experience away from the hustle and bustle that can sometimes make a veterinary visit stressful.

Because being Cat Friendly means more than just caring for cats—it means considering the world from their perspective. 🐱

Where does your cat feel most comfortable?
📸 Post a picture in the comments of your cat's favorite cozy spot! We want to see where your feline friends like to curl up, hide out, or simply supervise the household. 😂🐾

It’s National Dog Day, so naturally… we had to show off our dogs. 🐶❤️

These are the faces waiting for our team at home—the ones who make us laugh, keep us company, and hold such a special place in our hearts.

But at CKVC, we know the love doesn’t stop with our own dogs. Every dog who walks through our doors becomes a little bit part of our family, too. 🐾

Whether they’re here for a wellness visit, a big surgery, a quick nail trim, or just a little extra love, we’re honored to care for them like they’re our own.

Our dogs. Your dogs. Our CKVC family. 💚

🍂 Fall may be coming, but allergy season isn't necessarily over! If your pet is still scratching, licking their paws, or shaking their ears, seasonal allergies could be to blame. 🐾

Don’t let allergies slow them down. Give us a call to talk about allergy relief options! 💚

🐾 How many team members does it take to examine four Basset puppies?

Apparently… four. 😂

Meet Poppy, Petunia, Spud & Bean! These adorable 9-week-old Basset Hound siblings came to CKVC for their second set of puppy vaccines. 💉🐶

With four wiggly puppies, we decided an extra set (or three!) of hands was definitely necessary. And honestly, we weren't complaining about getting some extra puppy snuggles. 🥰

We love helping puppies get off to a healthy start—and making those early veterinary visits positive, comfortable and maybe just a little bit fun. 💚

The real question is… who do you think was the biggest troublemaker

🎉 Happy Birthday to Dr. Fuller! 🎂

Today we’re celebrating Dr. Fuller: Veterinarian, co-owner, Medical Director, and clinic “Dad”—someone who has been part of the CKVC family for a very long time. 🐾🙌🎉

In fact, Dr. Fuller started at CKVC all the way back in 2004, when he joined us as a veterinary assistant. After graduating from Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012, he came right back home to Central Kentucky Veterinary Center—this time as a DVM. 🩺

One of our favorite things about Dr. Fuller is how genuinely compassionate he is with his patients. He cares deeply about the animals he treats and the people who trust us with them. He also genuinely cares about our team and can often be found checking on everyone throughout the day. But those who know him well also know there’s another side to Dr. Fuller—he is one of CKVC’s sneakiest instigators. 😏 Oh, and he is a notorious foodie! 🤫

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Fuller loves spending time with his wife and two girls. He’s a big UK basketball fan and enjoys playing golf. His family also includes two dogs, Luka and Minnie. 🐶🐶

And then there’s Disney. 🏰✨

Dr. Fuller is a HUGE Disney fan and loves visiting with his family. He may or may not have recently visited the happiest place on earth dressed as Captain Hook. 🏴‍☠️😂

We also won't say exactly which birthday he is celebrating this year… but let's just say it’s a BIG one. 😉🎂

We hope you have the happiest birthday, Dr. Fuller! ❤️🐾 Please join us in wishing him a very happy birthday! 🎉🎂
