No lessons tomorrow morning as the arena is still wet. Might be ok for tomorrow afternoon.

Reminder, no lessons Saturday as I will be out of town. It’s also supposed to be freezing again.

THANK YOUR BOARDING FACILITY OWNERS AND TRAINERS! As the icepocalypse comes to an end, we are still fighting the cold temperatures here in Texas. Over the past four days we have hauled water, broke ice tanks, made sure stalls are extra bedded down, checked horses and fed in the freezing rain/snow and ice as it came down harder it seemed during time to feed and do night checks. We have checked under blankets, made sure horses stayed warm and suffered frost bite in our hands and toes 😭 We have left the warmth of our homes to make sure your horses are well taken care of while most of the (sane) population stays tucked under blankets, eating snacks and catching up on their favorite shows. Having horses takes dedication and PASSION. This work isn’t for the weak or the lazy. Your facility owners and trainers are busting their tails right now making sure your four legged friends are safe. Be sure to thank them and maybe send up a little prayer for our sanity 😂
Enjoy this picture of one of our boarders horses (Murphy) enjoying the cool temps and getting to stretch his legs after being stuck in for a few days.

It’s cold. But horses are warm with multiple layers and extra alfalfa. Even during the height of the downpour of ice, ponies were cozy (midnight check and 4am check). Water tanks had 2.5” of ice! Everything is frozen. So thankful for my husband and kids helping get chores done. Everything is harder when it’s frozen lol!

We’re on the homestretch horses people! We just need to make it through tomorrow morning. Think warm thoughts.

It was a long wet night. All horses got alfalfa this morning to give them fuel. Wet blankets removed and dry ones put on. Wet ones are in driers, hanging in front of the space heater and fireplace, and hanging on doors in my house so extra layers can be applied. So thankful it’s not supposed to last too long!!

PS: If you don’t already know, winter is not my favorite 😒
