When a family of golden retrievers comes in ready for haircuts, you get sentimental about dogs and ageing, or at least I do. I actually started grooming Hudson first, then Graham when he was a baby baby (he used to be so small!), then Briley. Now, when all three come in as a whirlwind of red and gold, they all three get to bring a wonderful smile to my face. Love you trio🫂❤️🧡

To my fellow groomers: do y’all have lots of families who have multiple of the same breed in their household?

Guys this is why I could never work mobile; I’d get so lonely🤣

Usually the least busy days are Sundays when most of my grooming friends at AB Pet Salon are off except me and sometimes one other groomer, but it felt like the twilight zone being in on a wednesday when everyone is is off work today or on a holiday and it just happened to sync up🤣

Welcome to my Client Thankfulness Giveaway, Year 2! I’m once again donating a Embark Dog DNA Test breed analysis kit to one lucky client!

Rules for my clientele (this one is only eligible for my clients. Sorry to my grooming friends!):

🍋 Every client of mine who wants an entry, gets one! Please just shoot me a message, drop a comment, or mention to me in person at your appointment that you’d like to be entered and I’ll note your entry!

🍋For additional entries- like last year, this doubles as a fundraiser. This year, I’d love everyone to send their donations to my Venmo: Anna-Schuth (Venmo link at the bottom). Make sure your donation sends with the caption “thankful” so that I know it’s for this giveaway! Every dollar donated earns you an extra entry. At the end of this giveaway after drawing a winner, I’ll compile all the donations and donate them to Lexington Humane Society on everyone’s behalf. I think that’ll be a more streamlined way to handle it than last year, and I want to make it a bit easier for my clients to donate as well, should you be feeling the generous holiday spirit and want some extra entries!

Terms and conditions: in order to receive your prize, the winner must have an outstanding appointment for a future visit within the next two months from the giveaway draw date with me. Winner must provide me with their pup’s breed results within one month of receiving their prize, and agrees to allow me to share the results on my page. Upon winning, I’ll send a winner’s contract with the rules and timelines outlined in the service agreement. Failure to adhere to those terms will result in owing me payment of the cost of one embark breed results panel, to be paid within the specified timing lines out in the contract.

I never posted my stills of Saoirse’s wings because I wanted to wait for the pro shots to come back!

As a dog groomer and a perfectionist, and especially as someone who is still pretty new to creatives: I see these pictures having come back and I immediately see the things I’d have done differently. Or see the areas I need to grow.

But those weren’t mistakes. Those weren’t weaknesses. This is learning. This is just the beginning for us. Especially with having come from a particular pattern beforehand- it’s also working with what I’ve got.

This girl. This patient, loving, goofy, literally life-saving dog. When I got her from her breeder saying I was looking for a service dog prospect, a competition dog, a show dog, and a sport dog, I knew I was asking for a LOT. But truthfully, she really can do all of these things. I cannot wait to grow with her. To learn with her in so many different avenues. And to stand alongside each other on a competition stage this year. It’s scary. It’s overwhelming to think about for me. But it’s also thrilling. The open ended opportunity for creativity we have together excites me and encourages me to push myself outside of the realm of my comfort zone. And that’s where the real growth really happens.

You and me, Squish. Wherever life takes us. However we do in any ring or on any stage- I’ll be proud to stand alongside you regardless. Love you Saoirse🫂🩵💙

If you’re anything like me, 9 times out of 10, you’re harder on yourself than you need to be. Reminder to all my fellow groomers and pet parents out there who are perfectionists: you’re doing a great job where you are. Growth and skill comes with time. You’re doing better than you think you are🫂💞

Feel free to share and repost away! Positivity in this industry is everything🫂.

Peer career support goes a long way! The industry is so much better when we lift up and support one another rather than view one another as competition. And yes- even in a local setting! There are plenty enough dogs to go around and different fits for every groomer and dog and I’m so happy to have so many wonderful groomers in my area I can refer people to that I trust when I’m fully booked out and unable to take new clientele on.

Or when I have a client that’s moving states, it’s always delightful when I actually know a groomer I trust where they’re moving to that I can recommend. This career, this work, and this community fill my heart and my soul and I hope I am successful in pouring out the love I feel for them so that other groomers feel supported and lifted too.
