With season opening this weekend I like to share this. I saw it last year and wanted to share it again. Just a few pointers
Just wanted to list a few things for everyone to keep in mind if a dog may be needed.
1. Absolute patience is your friend.
2. Call or text 361-362-7922 Leave a voicemail if I dont answer
3. If a dog is something you’re considering do not grid search before calling for a dog.
4. Rain may wash the color away but it doesn’t wash the scent away.
5. If gut shot do not pursue for several hours. Otherwise you’re setting yourself up for failure.
6. Myself and others will have a extremely high volume of calls so please give us a while to respond. My suggestion is to call as early as possible and get on the list.
7. No your neighbors dog that’s found 2 deer that Ray Charles could’ve found is not a real trailing dog.
8. Calls are FREE! Even if you’re not in the area I cover I can put you in contact with the best dogs in your area.
9. Please have a contact number for the neighboring properties. This especially is true for you small acreage hunters.
10. If you’ve trailed 200 yrds and not found your animal you’re pushing it. Please stop and at minimum call one of us.
11. The details matter. Please take as many pictures of the blood/sign that you have. I also like something in the pic for size reference like your hand, a glove etc etc. Video’s are greatly appreciated!!!
12. Myself and many others that do this will encounter more in a single season than most will in a lifetime of hunting. Even we have not seen it all but I can assure you that we have a lot of combined knowledge of these situations you may find yourself in.
13. Lastly I hope we can all have a great time and enjoy Gods creations this weekend with friends and family. Be safe and Good luck out there!
