I haven’t been shy about saying that I’m living the busiest 2 weeks of the year… for the people who haven’t heard me complain… in the last 2 weeks I have spent 5 days at 3 different horse shows, plus one day xc schooling, one day watching the YEH symposium, one day horse shopping, and every other days teaching and prepping for the previously mentioned events. Oh, and Turner got gelded.
Appropriately, I am physically exhausted. I have transversed central Florida by truck and trailer, and marched around courses on foot. My arthritic ankle is wrecked and my terrier (Fris!) is wishing for an apartment life.
But today was culmination of the 2 weeks of craziness… the last day of Rocking Horse 3. Every horse and rider rose to the occasion- and the courses weren’t set to be easy- personal records were smashed, and young horses received the foundation to grow with confidence. And not one rider made a “mental mistake”.
On top of all that growth we might have found the ideal home for our perfect sales horse and we might be bringing home an adorable client prospect.
I met a few new friends, and caught up with some of the best oldies. And I could count on the people in my barn to pick up my slack.
This might have been the hardest I’ve ever worked, but I can also say I’m going to bed feeling happy and fulfilled. Life is a gift and the days go by too quickly. And maybe I’m writing this post to just mark down and remember what may have been possibly the best 2 weeks of my life… a reminder that the hard work pays off… and maybe I’m writing
this to have something to look back on when the stars aren’t quite so perfectly aligned.
